There's the matter of authenticity too. If you start pulling bullshit that breaks the suspension of disbelief so many times so frequently even the biggest shit-eater will start to raise an eyebrow.
You have to make the power fantasy believable, because there's nothing more the people who love their power fantasies is to be taken out of them by something so outlandish not even then can believe.
>>57895486Being a chosen one is nothing on this franchise. Look at Liko. Look at Ash, hell, actually, Yuyama aside, Ash is a genuine from nothing MC.
Special type powers? Again, nothing for this franchise .Aura Guardian, Psychics, Hexes, Ninjas, Draconids, etc.
All that sort of thing are a dime dozen and well within the limits of Pokemon as a setting.
Gravity training from Dragon Ball is one of the most popular things nowadays, but people do that and don't teach their Pokemon to become Super Saiyan because "oh it's a power fantasy who cares about logic" because gravity training is feasible and logical within the constraints of the setting, someone going Super Saiyan is not at all, you could MAYBE bullshit a Kaio-ken, but something like that is too hard-coded to just "transfer over" and no matter what kind of bullshit explanation you give it will be extreme bullshit.
Crazy as it may sound sometimes even the biggest slop eaters have a limit where they will say "enough, this is too sloppy even for me".
