>>54558731The fortunate thing is that, one day, volume additions will happen as SwSh gets recompiled as full volumes (right after ORAS gets wrapped up in October and SMUSUM gets started, fuck you BW2). We can only
chope things get better in like, 5+ years.
Rose's motives make sense
since it's been deliberately cut from 1000 years to 10 years, but it's done through a last-second reveal at the last chapter; I didn't like that at all. For me, Rose lacks scenes between that reveal and the build-up of his plan that show his insights or mindset going into the Darkest Day project that actually come from him]. He seems way too two-faced and strange in the manga, even if his plan was mostly successful beyond a few hiccups caused by his own impulsive and overly-grand thinking pushing the plot forwards.
Swordward and Shieldbert were upgraded for sure. This is a moment where Kusaka's habit of vilifying minor antagonists really works well, since they're now a third-party that deliberately leads Rose astray (even if he knows they are of dubious legitimacy at best) while trying to benefit off the Darkest Day themselves, instead of a strange post-Darkest Day antagonist that does things AFTER Eternatus and the Darkest Day have been resolved.
It's really hard to say why Kusaka even bothered with Marvin. He's a character that boils down to "vessel for exposition dumping" and "has the mandatory shillmon." He has no actual personality and no storyline to follow or be invested in, but still takes away paneltime from other relevant characters. Maybe it's overcompensation, maybe it's editor intervention.
One improvement that I liked was Sonia's mini-storyline. Ties in well with the brief world-building that Galar has in terms of how important personal reputation/image is in there, while giving her relationship with Leon more substance without going overboard with any melodrama.
It's a low B/high C tier arc desu.
