I wouldn't call his mother "lightskinned", I don't know about you but that's pretty fucking dark. We also have no idea if SHE is tanned or not either, we have 0 evidence of Kiawe's tanlines either. I do agree that in general Alolan's are probably lighter outside of the tan, and I would never call Kiawe "black" in the sense he's African - since first of all Africans don't exist, second of all black people don't have to be fucking African. But Kiawe, at face value can most definitely be called black, and at the very least "very dark brown".
He's probably more dark skinned than the rest of the Alolans, because if you're making some kind of argument that there can be light skinned Alolans - which his mother is most definitely not by comparison to other ACTUAL light skinned Alolans (eg. Mallow), then there can also be "dark skinned Alolans". Plus there are things called recessive genes, even if both of his parents were to be white, if either of them had ancestry of dark skinned Alolan blood, then a dark skinned Alolan baby can be produced anyway.
I'm not saying he's naturally black.
I'm not saying he's anything actually.
I just think that if someone wants to call him black then you have no real right or grounds to argue that they're wrong about it. You can call him light skinned, if that's the delusion you'd like to believe. But what I see is a very dark man who may as well just be defaulted to "black" in terms of skin colour and not race.
