Those are parts of the game, they are a large part of how you interact with the game and if you find them slow or sluggish then that's a fair attitude to have.
I get that you're frustrated by that, because you're clearly able to get back into that mindset you used to have an appreciate a game for what it was rather than what it is now, but that doesn't mean other people are wrong or lying when they say a game has aged poorly - as with all discussion of media, there is an implied 'in my opinion' around every single thing people say and if you can't deal with that, well, I guess you can enjoy being mad at people on the internet.
