The obvious answer is that gen 5 came and went before Sm4sh was even announced. Greninja was the hot new shit by then, and TPC knew how to push ninjafrog a lot better than rusefox.
We’re lucky that smash references the anime more than games, in that regard. Zoroark probably wouldn’t be in master balls if the anime didn’t promote it like a legendary through the movie.
The real snub was from pokken. I don’t hate chandelure, but having it be the only gen 5 mom in the roster? Really? Sucks that we probably aren’t getting a sequel, cuz zoroark would have a very good chance.
