So how's the post-game in Sword and Shield? Is it just raids and the battle tower? I've heard the battle tower is particularly shit this time around.

it's pretty not great anon, and i say this as someone who had a decent time with swsh.

The raids are okay until you fail to get the gigantamax pokemon you want due to the low catch rate and then you wanna fucking trade in the game.

Super barebones. The "postgame" is just autistically hunting gmax mon which we dont have them all to begin with. Also easily exploitable to summon them in less than 5 minutes. So its now shorter. Battle tower is watered down battle tree. Also obligatory 2 hours postgame story

Collecting all of these forms you'll never see again when collecting all pokemon is apparently dumb?
Outside of that the wild area has nothing new except width, which doesn't matter when spawns stop 6 feet away and it runs at 10 fps anyway

this is a constant thing. if a pokemon has protect, the first thing it'll do is just protect for no reason, making trick choice scarf absolutely demolish most of the pokemon.

As a generation, gen1 actually has more content. SWSH wins as a standalone endgame experience, but Gen1 in it's day had Stadium you could link to. It also has a game corner and safari zone. There was more going on in gen1 with pokemania and sidegames than we have got in gen8 and 7.

Get your eyes checked. XY looks visually pleasing at best and like a tech demo at worse. Alola at least consistently looks great due to their (slightly) better understanding of 3D environments and how to use the camera in a more dynamic way. Route 1 of Alola looks better than over half of Kalos. I can’t even remember what any of Kalos’ routes looked like past the second one.

Game Freak have relegated the post-game to ranked PvP and raids for the most part. They want you to grind for bottle caps, vitamins and mints to make your in-game team viable. But if sentiment on /vp/ is any indication, that's not compelling enough because most people here prefer to play competitive on showdown.

Honestly, i got my first gmax last night and I can firmly say that the only real way to get one is to savescum and time travel.
Joining people’s raids would be better if they didn’t give guests a nearly 1% chance to catch The Pokémon but give hosts a guaranteed catch. Meanwhile event gigantmax mons break out for every everyone.

Bit off topic, but did anyone else get really disappointed with the champion battle music?
I actually restarted the fight and just played a remix of the gold/silver Red battle theme instead. I don't understand why the leadup to the fight had -NO- music at all, and then the actual fight music was just some barely audible grating noise mingled with the sounds of the crowd. Absolutely a let-down.

i'm not a fan of the crowd stuff either, i'd just prefer the crowd being audible with normal music playing.

I remember Colosseum having great sound design, the final boss would have a normal theme and you could hear the crowd cheering in the background.
