I think I'm a genwunner now? Is that bad?

For years I was led to believe this game was an unplayable mess but now that I gave it a go after a couple decades or so I can safely say I'm fully back on the Kanto train. It's hard to explain but it feels like its own untainted self contained world that's completely free from anything else, like it's not just another gear that's part of an ever expanding machination, you know what I mean? Honestly it's making me want to make my own romhack to fix and polish some things here and there that granted could be improved upon and just have that become my definitive core pokemon experience.
Because frankly the further the franchise goes on, it's getting more and more mentally draining having to force myself to like things as a cope or at least tolerate/ignore so much stuff I dislike that make the pokemon universe less and less appealing to me.

Am I crazy to be thinking like this?
