Credit where its do, Delia is a good mom to Ash, as she does care and support him. But the whole thing of being taken care of by Kukui and Burnet is I think the closest that Ash experienced having a fairly functional family dynamic. As while we know his actual dad was around for him when he was 5, we don't hear Ash talk much about him, partially because hes a workaholic but it might also be because Ash may not have that many memories of him.

Also the other oddity does come from stuff relating to Delia.

I think now the lack of appearances in Journey's makes sense. For example Misty and Brock weren't given any full episodes in Journey's (not counting Brock in the Arceus specials), because they knew they would be bringing them back now.

Ash's old Pokemon were not used much in Journey's or shown, but these last 11 episodes seem like they'll give them some kind of spotlight. Giovanni was mysteriously absent for nearly all of JN, which I suspect might be because he's getting some type of closure by the end.

Now a lot of the things they didn't do during Journey's is starting to make more sense. I wouldn't be surprised if they did hold back other things, like showing Dawn win a Grand Festival (even if we just see the aftermath of it like her holding a trophy if they don't want to animate a contest), or Serena's short interactions with Ash is because they were saving all this stuff for the end.

Granted I could be wrong, but given what we know so far it seems possible.

The thing is we know Serena's crush didn't even come from Yajima himself, it was suggested by one of the higher up execs and they went with it. Also keep in mind all the official Amour stuff had to be screened and greenlit and given the go-ahead.

Just because Yajima is not around doesn't mean the other directors/execs would never go back to it. Tomioka wrote XY eps too (he co-wrote the last episode actually), and is very good with continuity.

There is no mention that this mini series will feature the other companions outside of Brock and Misty. The other companions got their send offs in JNs. At most they may feature in some montage in the final episode, but that is about it.

Gary is there because he is Ash’s childhood friend and rival. Plus he was in the first series and human characters/cast for the mini series is made up of those who debuted in season one. Him being there isn’t evidence that they trying stuff these episodes with random characters .

Aura is something that every Pokemon characters has but different people has different aura just like different human has different blood type. Ash's Aura simply matched the Aura of his Lucario and ranger Riolu so he can sense them and see their memory. Its also explain why Ash's aura never activate around Korrina. Cameron, Riley, Maylene and Kukui's Lucario because their aura is different than Ash.

In the episode "Pokemon Ranger & Kidnapped Riolu Part 1" , Kellyn explains the Aura is similar to a feeling and Ash's Aura is perfectly matched with that of Riolu's. Movie Lucario was only released from the Staff because Ash's aura matched Sir Aaron's Aura.

First the executive tried to push an inexperienced racist kid as Ash's main rival. People rejected him so the executive took revenge by humilating Ash on Unova League to get back everybody for not loving Trip. Because apparently its all Ash's fault that people does not like racist, that's was the logic of the chunni executive.

In XY, he literally forced the studio to make special episode on his self inserted OC and then have win the entire league on XY&Z series. He probably thought "My Alain will be so cool and awesome like Yusei and Sesshomaru that everybody would become his fan and want Ash to be replaced by him". Unfortunately people rejected Alain the same way real people rejected Chunni like him.

In SM, Alola sucked so much as a region that he didn't even wanted to put any of his OC on Alola.

IN PM, he spend entire series trying to shove Goh and Koharu that he completely ignored all the potencial that the new setting gave them for a better series. He probably wanted Tsuragi as another Alain but people rejected him right in the first episode for being an Alain rip-off.

I played red when it came out even though it was my brother's and he'd beat my ass if I saved over his file so I had to replay the first 2 gyms over and over... I only catch the new pokemon because I cannot imagine the person who unironically wants to catch every single pokemone ever gen.

Catching bulbasaur 9 times is dumb, I caught it when I was 5, I'm good. I also gave up on the legendaries that only get released as a special event. Never got the fire/water gen 6 steam poke, so that's where my adventure in "gotta catch 'em all" ended.

Is it necessary? It would have cooler if Ash is lure in Paldea by the Professor who tells him about a trainer in Paldea that only a champion among champion can defeat. Because of a sudden circumstances, Ash will enter Paldea Academy and will be assign to a special class for misfits that has Arven, Penny and all the Team Star commanders. In my reimagination, the bullies will never left and instead turn Team Star into the villain while themselves into victim (What do you expect to happen when you build a literal monster truck and attack your classmates with it). The series will focus on Ash bonding and helping the misfit while searching for the super strong trainer that professor mention (which basically the AI that is programed to guard the Time-machine).

The only thing series will need is a cute eyecandy that bickers with Ash like Misty or Dawn.

A lot of normies, if given a pen and paper to write an ending, would have came up with something similar to what the miniseries looks to be. I enjoyed what we got, and I think it made Goh a memorable, good character. I just wish the writers had spent more time on his development, rather than just touching on Goh's personality traits and struggles, because I found it interesting.

Very well written, anon. I love what the anime tried to do with Goh's character, but his character definitely suffered from being in a series that tried to do too much in a short period of time. PM19 needed to be a four-year series with better direction and focus, so stuff wouldn't have felt so rushed. Having a full team at TK and the support of OLM's resources would've definitely helped too.

Well, a ton of the issues are that Ash had to continue to suck up screentime like a sponge despite being the most boring of the three main characters in JN. But given that the aim was to set up his departure and how bland he's become over time, it makes sense.

The other issue was just production issues related to the pandemic and how thin the anime industry is stretched as a whole.

But I agree, Goh is a very interesting character and I look forward to seeing what the fan base does with him in a post-Ash landscape.

nta but it’s one of the reasons I kind of appreciate the Gohkari fic nowadays, since it took the route of focusing less on Goh’s actions and quirks (just catching Pokémon) and really nailed that he’s a bookworm and a social reject, which made him research a ton about contests in his spare time (and eventually becomes the catalyst for his and Dawn’s fight since he researched Dawn’s past performance and came to his own negative conclusions about it).

I wish something similar had been done with Ash/Goh's dynamic in PM19. I love what we got, but more of a contrast in personality and attitudes would've made their relationship even better, especially if over time, both Ash and Goh saw merit in how each other goes about tackling a problem.

In order for there to be some actual argument for the Serena x May ship, you need to have at least a kiss/a confession/a hug. May's seiyuu is unavailable so she has to have silent screentime with zero dialogue but we can work around that like this -

May nods with a sincerely happy smile and stretches out to Serena for an embrace.

What we saw in the anime is not even worth discussing, literally 5 seconds of generic ashnime COTD peanut gallery interactions. Like there's literally no actual content to have a debate on.
If you want actual evidence of yuri shipping in the ashnime, take a look at Dawn x Cynthia.
Dawn LITERALLY lived at Cynthia's private villa in the Unova region, just the two of them, Cynthia's lustful expression tells us enough to assume sexual activity between them. So like you at least have some evidence in the story to justify a yuri theory of Dawn and Cynthia having sex.
Japan has it's own visual language for homosexual stuff, if OLM wanted to legit tease May x Serena, they'd have Serena spin May in a waltz twirl with animated lily flowers spinning in an improvised 3-second anime background.
In Japan the word "yuri" (百合) has two meanings: "the lily flower" and "lesbians".

May appears on screen for like literally 5 seconds and doesn't even talk or move for that matter.
