What we know:
Last time, we saw the conclusion of Ash's story, as he and Pikachu walked off into the sunset. Even now he's still thinking about Latias and Latios, and hopes to see how they're doing one day. A good of a hook as any for his eventual return for Alto Mare. Regardless though, Ash's journey is over. The Ash Bowl was never fully won, those Latias has one of the best positions of the contenders in the show's conclusion. For now, all we have left is fanfictions, art, and speculation to tide us over.
It's been a fun ride.
