Yes it's natural to be very sad and upset over a loved pet dying, but taking prolonged time off work is not normal for this.
But I will defend some vtubers in this regard because their job is often to be upbeat and entertaining in front of thousands of people, which is in no way comparable to for example an office job or manual labour.
I also think that pets dying in this industry is also a breaking point for a lot of them and they take a (longer) break they need.
This shit isn't exactly black and white but thinking you need as much time to grieve a pet as an animal is pure autism territory.
And yes I do have a cat which I am very much fond of and I will be upset when it dies.
