>>32190275EN3 WILL revitalize HoloEN as a whole, but not for the reasons you think.
There are currently a significant set of people that got introduced to VTubing thanks to Holofes - long after Council debut - who have a hard time fitting in with the community because they have a lot more in-jokes nowadays. A new viewer isn't going to understand what a "Gosling" means, or what "tee tee" means, or what "off collab" means right off the bat. Sure, these are much simpler concepts and can be easily explained, but they're so embedded in the VTuber lexicon that there are people who have trouble with it, especially those who don't have the time to watch everyone.
There's also a lot of people who slowly drifted off the EN VTubing after several big name EN projects fells off : Stuff like Holotalk, Mythbreakers, Ame VR etc. are things that those people will still tune into, but those are feeling "dry" after having a content drought in the EN sphere for a while.
And of course there's a lot of tourists who know of Hololive but have never really checked them out in earnest.
All 3 of these groups will be the potential viewerbase of EN3, and as long as at least TWO of them have some form of niche that's not there in the EN scene, or have some innovative ideas during debut, EN VTubing will be set for at least another half year more.
But wait, there's more.
A lot of people feel that Council is "lazy" or "haven't contributed anything" which is an argument that has some merit, as most of them are just solid, consistent streamers, but haven't really bought anything NEW in terms of content, storyline or innovation. They're "resting on their laurels" as people say.
Also they came after Myth who were pioneers of the scene, and so naturally they would already know that they wouldn't be able to exceed the expectations placed on them. Putting that high of a bar on people usually ends with them just saying "fuck it" and withdrawing from even competing.
EN3 would be the first time they actually have some competition from within. Despite the friendly vibes, at the end of the day people within the BOX are competing for at least a baseline audience of the same people (barring their niche audiences). And considering what happened with JP Gen5 when HoloX came into the scene, I can also see a lot of current council fans checking out the new hires, and some even being tempted by them. Hell, if EN3 has enough talented folks, you could even see this leakage happening from Myth.
THIS ALONE will be the biggest motivator the ENs. There are of course some who may just dig themselves deeper and not care, but I believe losing their viewership will light a fire in at least SOME of them, and motivation is one of the most important ingredients needed for Kino.
THIS is how EN3 will revitalize HoloEN.
