Little bit of analysis of Aster's Oricon sales
Firstly, a reminder that Oricon only counts sales from participating retailers domestically. Granted this is most stores but any albums mailed overseas or bought in the holoshop or geekjack for example don't count. Pure Japanese only numbers lol. Proxy services do count but I doubt there's a significant number of people making sure to buy an album through proxy just to make it count on oricon.
First day (26th) preorders went out. Aster ranked 3rd with slightly over 6k albums sold. 1st was New DNA by XG at nearly 23k, second was Jams Vacation by Jams Collection at around 7.5k. Second day (27th) was the general release for all the previously mentioned albums as well as some others. Aster slipped to 4th so we don't have numbers but 3rd was the previous day's 1st and they sold nearly 3k, a very large fall. The Jams Vacation album dropped all the way to 6th and on the 28th dropped out of the top 30 all together. 1st on the 27th was a GLAY album at around 10k sales, it was 4th on the 26th. 2nd on the 27th was Equinox by JO1 (released on the 20th) but I don't remember what their sales were. Today on the 28th Aster ended up 3rd again with 1.7k sales, just behind the New DNA album at 1.85k. 1st was the JO1 album at 3.6k and the GLAY album slipped back down to 6th.
If you can parse my ramble congratulations. TLDR is that Aster is holding onto it's sales very well and isn't frontloaded by preorders by hardcore kenzoku. Total sales numbers for the first week on Oricon should hit 5 digits no problem which is quite a good result for her. For comparison's sake, her Scream EP sold 7k copies through the holoshop, the only place it was available.
