I will say though, realkana is fine, but I actually personally recommend handwriting it down in a notebook
Just like the concept of note taking in class rather than just listening to the lecture; handwriting it attaches your brain to the shape and helps you remember what you've learned imo
Also keep in mind that you seriously dont need an advanced complete understanding of Japanese if you dont want
Even just a very basic understanding of vocab and grammar is helping me understand, like, maybe 20-80% of streams on average? A wide range depending on the holo and the content, but it feels really cool to better appreciate stuff they say in their original delivery
You also get a basic understanding of japanese song lyrics, which I think is really cool too
After a certain point once you've understood super basic grammar, further learning is really just all about vocab/kanji/culture stuff (like idioms) imo
