You shouldn't eat bread that barks. That bread has a speaker inside of it that will kill you if eaten. Also /nasa/ will look into canning dried vegetables. Though dried vegetables will have less nutrition than fresh and even freeze-dried veggies. Dehydrated veggies might be a fun snack food.

Since we have gas transfer tech in food processing we use nitrogen gas to replace oxygen in the packaging process to prevent the food from oxidizing/ripening/going stale. Also with bags they have enough pressure to keep vegetable crisps from rattling about during transport. Not sure if we can replicate that with cans.

I actually spent more than 0.3 seconds editing the archive links so now they are properly readable unlike the catastrophe the first one was.
Read through them, there are some changes that need to be made and discussed.
Any questions, corrections and suggestions welcome, I'll read through them when I wake up. Also someone please suggest a better name than "Principles" cause brain no work.
We also need to figure out within the week who the next rep responsible for this will be, as well as a way to have a safe-ish editable archive or a way to share edit codes safely

Nitrogen is used to keep dry foods tasting fresh. Most canned foods are stored in a brine or syrup and heat treated via pressure cooker. I need sleep. I didn't know much about food preservation until I started writing for /nasa/.

Do we need this? Even with different reps in charge of holding the vote, there could still be a singular person in charge of archiving. So the current head rep would create a new "Proposals" and "Results" rentry each week and the archiver would update the "Principles" and "Archive" links. Transferring the ownership of the rentry's would require external communication and proof of identity or leaving it public and trusting no one would mess with things. Either option seems too difficult to maintain.

Well copying the contents of a rentry and pasting it in a different one is easy enough. The only problem would be if he deleted everything and stormed off, but in that scenario giving more people access only makes it more likely that could happen with no additional way to stop it.

google doc also makes it easy to just download everything. We could have it setup so that the drive is publicly accessible, but not editable, so that basically every anon can DL a copy of the whole archive even if they're not an editor.
Also, new gmail addresses do not require proof of identity, at least they didn't last time I created an address. Did that change?

This might be the biggest issue with your resource assessment, as far as I understand from the map your climate is Mediterranean, so much closer to Italy, Greece southern France and North Africa than Madagascar

Right, that's how it used to be, but the 15 degree shift to save the poles from distortion pushed everything a bit closer to the equator, so /morig/ is basically at Madagascar latitudes now, see pic related. The climate map is a smidge outdated now.

Here's a pantheon I made

Notes:
It's the basic structure of the pantheon and it's common interpretation by the Republic, it's basically suposed to represent a bunch of combined legends, myths, stories, and the like that have been built up from many peoples across the lands.
Mumei is commonly represented as a Homer/Herodotus type character that travels the earth and records things, this is why she pops out in many stories and myths. She then became the main figure in the religion of the people.
Ame is meant to be a hero type character with multiple exploits and things like that, still a human thought. I'll change it if /awat/ does not like it.
Ina has a different type of divinity than the others (because lovecraft), but since /wah/ hasn't made any lore, I won't touch her for now.
The soulpath is the name for the underworld, where the soul of living beings is taken for ???, I'm not smart enough to come up with an afterlife system, maybe they go back to the land or something. I'm open for suggestions here.

The other splits are fully welcome to reference, use, and modify the pantheon for their own means, I'd make a prettier version, but I really need to go to sleep
This is only an attempt at creating a sensible pantheon, I might just scrap it completely if I don't feel it's good enough.

I checked the rentry and the map, and refined my initial climate assessment a bit, since the height of the mountains are taller than I expected.
For the flatland to the south, the initial thoughts are still more or less correct, with the climate generally changing from tropical monsoon (Am) and tropical savanna (Aw) to subtropical monsoon (Cwa). The addition of the mountains change a few things, though.
First, the mountain ridge to the norther coast should form a minor rain shadow effect (brown dotted line), although the effect will be more significant in the west, where the mountains seem taller. (the red numbers are my guess on their height, please correct me if I'm wrong). As such, western part of Cwa might see a more drastic difference in seasonal rainfall level.
Secondly, the northern shore will fall under said minor rain shadow, which makes the seasonal rainfall difference less significant, as the wet south wind is blocked and drops a lot of its water to the southern plains. As such, it might be considered humid subtropical (Cfa) instead. In the western tip, the loss of water in the wind might be significant enough that the winter north wind might actually be wetter, which would put it in the hot summer Mediterranean climate (Csa), although it might be too small to be a distinct climate zone.
Third, the height of Mt. Mori (which I assume is similar, if not a bit taller than Mt. Fuji) means it will have its own distinct climate zones by sheer height alone, kind of like Mount Kilimanjaro. Assuming a Mt. Fuji aesthetics (snow at the top), the following climate zones will form a series of (mostly) concentric circles as you go up from the foot of the mountain:
- Tropical monsoon/savannah (Am/Aw)
- Subtropical highland (Cwb/Cwc)
- Tundra (ET)
Be note that depending on how steep the slope is and other local topographic features, not all climate zones might be big enough to be distinct. Between subtropical highland and tundra will be the tree line, where the forest gives way to shrubs and grass. Be noted that by definition, tundra is not covered in ice all year, so the snow cap will disappear during summer season (just like Mt. Fuji). If you want it to have a permanent ice cap (EF), the height will likely have to reach 5000m+.

Just noticed your guys mori-mountain-retcon requires some reshuffeling of the tectonics to explain those mountains so I eyeballed it a bit and changed the regional map.
I am not the original mapanon who made the geography map so my theory might have some issues.
If picrel is realistic your island should brace for some nasty earthquakes

Technically the area could have multiple "mountains" in the form of volcanoes without the tectonics having to be changed see: iceland
There being a tectonic boundary there would change the resources found.
Also there being a tectonic boundary would take away the possibility of morig being a supervolcano if thats whtat the deadbeats like. A hotspot is still possible again, see: iceland but a supervolcanoes dont really form at the tectonic boundaries afaik

Another way to explain the mountains could be that they are old ones, kind of like Urals or the Norwegian mountains, formed by some ancient tectonic plate collision in the area, and the mountaisn jsut never had the time to be eroded away. This is how i think the mountain chain in the middle of the major holo plate formed . This would require morig having had existed prior to it becoming an LIP however, so the island would become somewhat similar to /infinity/ in geologic structure.

With your arrows there, and the movements of the plated being what they are, the boundary where the mountaisn form should be a divegrent one.
Try to include morig on the sea plate, and keep the motions of the plates as they are and you should be getting what you want.

As for the effect of the geography change, the main difference (apart from more frequent earthquakes) is that /morig/ might get more copper and gold, although they already have enough of them that it probably doesn't matter.

So we were talking about processing coal into coke last thread. /nasa/ will have to build a facility to do so. We want to trap the sulfur, ammonia, and nitrogen so it doesn't contaminate the water via acid rain. That said this might be a fifty year project at minimum with how much steel we have to make before hand. We'll be well into industrial revolution by then. We can still export the raw coal in the meantime.

As much as I like to focus on long term projects things have to unfold in real time. I will be dead in about thirty to fourty years. Sana has back problems now. So she's got 5-10 years at most. So while planning things for the future would be nice we have about 10 years to return to space. So our efforts should focus on vitubium shortcuts to return the station to orbit.

Thanks for your efforts anon, but as other anon says but the resource assessment and mountain additions were written with /morig/ being a LIP supervolcano in mind, so I wouldn't say there is a requirement for the addition of this boundary here. Also, keeping the Madagascar parallels going has become a priority and Madagascar gas a similar chain of mountains/volcanoes despite being in the middle of its plates.

I'm hoping the chickens can survive the sea voyage from KFP to /nasa/. We'll take good care of chickens when they get here. We'll build air-conditioned hen houses for the chickens. So since the vote to swap /fbk/ and /mion/ went through, I made a mockup of the new borders. There were requests to keep the countries' respective sizes the same after swapping and to not leave either landlocked. With the added poles, the northern country shouldn't be a frozen wasteland, so that is no longer a concern. How do people feel about pic related? It looks like older lands have more coal in general. In the Americas there aren't really dinosaur fossils because those continents are relatively in what used to be uninhabited places on the globe. That said Americas do have lots of shale oil. Niji and Holo continents could have more coal than the indie continent. Coal is a but tricky to pin point because you have to look at where the continents used to be in pre-history to get an idea.

I do know blasts furnaces existed since the 12th century. /nasa/ is looking into coke to recycle the steel scrap we have in electric arc blast furnaces. Though we'll need clay to make grout bricks first. I think we might find clay in the southern forest on the border of /uuu/. Clay is a scarce material in the tundra plains.

While I'm talking to you, it appears /nasa/ is too far away from /risu/ to make any agricultural trades. /nasa/ can dry out wheat but I don't know if /risu/'s nuts can last a half-year voyage. Also /nasa/ may have coal. However coal is too dangerous to transport on wooden ships over long voyages. So /risu/ is better off trading with nearby countries for coal. Logs would be a solid material to trade for raw coal.

I do have some suggestions for processing bog iron. You can use charcoal to smelt iron if your smeltery is hot enough. You can ask /infinity/ what the costs is building a charcoal smeltery. Charcoal can be made by coking wood and peat buried under dirt. If you have clay then making a charcoal kiln would be much better.

Wheat grains and malt liquor would be the only goods we have to last the voyage. Unless sealed the sugar beet sugar would get wet by the rain. And even then you want a cool dry environment.

Supposedly laterites were also used as a major source of iron (and nickel), but I can't find much information on that. It seems they're most commonly used as bricks to build things in the tropics, with the most famous laterite structure being the Angkor Wat.

On a somewhat related note, I also looked into what kind of minerals /risu/ might have, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like /risu/ will have many major ore deposits (that can be used in this tech level). It seems that apart from the aforementioned laterite iron and nickel, the majority of deposits there will be sedimentary exhalative deposits (SedEx), which is usually more rich in lead and zinc (although apparently silver also form among them). Before people jump to conclusions over the word steamship, they're early steamships which are hybrids that have both an engine and sailing rigs. Also there are only two due to the fact that Risu does not have any coal, so any fuel would need to be transported from /∞/. So every ship minus two are traditional sailing ships and the two steamships are more for show as flagships.

And the Central Fleet would be under /∞/'s control since they're their ships, however you can use the shipyards to build your own ships along with /∞/. (Assuming permission is granted given we'd need to use the forest.)

Envisioned it as /inf/ teach us how to make boats and we make our own boats. If they wanna lend us supplies im fine with that. Sometimes I forget in no longer the only risuner here so I have to adjust to not just making shit up on my own uncontested. I would very much like the boats we start out with to be pic related as we want to keep this to vt/risu lore and ID built this in minecraft + it being an iconic indonesian ship. At the very least it should be the first ships we build and can act as a base for future models.

Oh i see. I misread that completely. In that case Im all for that idea. I really just wanted settlements and other facilities near the road ends but i presume there would be plenty either built by risu or inf. As for the third part yeah i would definitely say inf can use our trees but that replanting thing would be enforced up the ass. As for the pinisi I was thinking of using a somewhat bigger version maybe about 1/2 to 3/4 the size of a galleon. At least enough for supplies to be stored for long voyages.

They seem intent on their searches and I actually really dont like this idea as it might ruin any potential relation with morig, Since they are pretty close to us I was hoping to at least talk to them without them thinking of us as the tribals that are meats friends. It all depends on how well /meat/ is willing to co operate as I would imagine there would still be risuners that would be VERY hesitant to get on boats with them. Especially on the west coast. Is there a meat rep here id like to go over the details of their agreement so i can remember to save it in my notes.

You're talking to one I would say the spoilered part is more a response to /morig/'s plan to search every ship their patrols find that shares /meat/'s design. I don't think it'll really cause any incidents since they seem to be quite firm about not attacking without concrete proof, just that the more /meat/-designed ships around, the more work the patrol will have to do and make the chance of them stumbling upon something truly suspicious lower.
That said, I'm aware that /risu/ probably won't like being put in a position like that, so I'm asking if you think a deal like that would work. It isn't really necessary, since /inf/ is always around. Just thinking that a deal like that could be interesting.

To be honest, the /morig/ navy probably has a faction that is glad to see peaceful relations between /meat/ and /risu/, because that's that much more territory not getting raided, so our limited resources can be focused on other areas. However, in typical deadbeat fashion there's also a faction of hardline deadbeat admirals fuming about it who would like open hostilities and (hopefully wrongly) see this as risunners just becoming a tool for /meat/ military operations. I forgot about inf being on the west coast as well desu. Just so used to seeing them on the east side. And technically though they are not allies morig would be in a way helping us with their constant searches. Of course with the pinisi being risus main boat it would be super easy for morig to tell which boat is of risuner design. As for what kind of ships /meat/ use... I don't know. I've been reading on ships that would fit /meat/, but they're somewhat lacking. The mesoamericans don't use big ships and don't seem to sail far, while the Viking longships, despite their reputation, don't seem to handle open sea all that well due to the shallow draught. I'll have to do my reps on ship designs before I'm able to give a more concrete answer.
That said, the deal aboutteaching how to find and use bog iron is still open, as well as other forms of extracting metal from other sources (I'm just going to assume it's possible to extract iron from laterite, probably in a similar manner to bog iron given the similar iron-containing material). /meat/ will also be willing to provide the first batch of tools at bargain price so that /risu/ doesn't have to *completely* reinvent the wheel. Food preservation reps are mostly done. /nasa/ has various methods for preserving space meals. The obvious method is vacuum sealing. We suck the air out of the package until it shrinks around the food. If we can't suck all the oxygen out then we displace it with nitrogen. Most of the atmosphere is nitrogen. You pop them open, add water, and they'll cook automatically using crystals. MREs are ration food. I ate my first MRE. I think barring large-scale deforestation (which doesn't seem like what risuners would do), the majority of /risu/ would likely be some kind of seasonal forest (evergreen might be possible in some areas with consistent water supply) rather than open fields. Your best bet in that regard would likely be the southwestern coast (northwestern coast would likely be affected by monsoon and be forested), where the trees begin thinning to shrubs and grass like a savanna.

Still, the heavy rainfall from warm tropical current (in the east) and seasonal monsoon (in the north) should mean most of those areas will be wooded barring outside intervention, although they would be more seasonal than the evergreen forests in the tropics. The southwest would likely be the place where grassland and shrubland is more common since they aren't (as?) affected by the monsoon and is kept dry by a cold current to the west.

Once the station is unfolded I think I have a plan with what major project /nasa/ will do next. We will need to set up a waterwheel sawmill to process lumber. From there we need to build an electric current blast furnace to recycle our metals from the crash. If we find coal then we'll process it into coke. We'll trap the sulfur and carbon dioxide gasses because we'll use those. Sulfur will be processed into sulfuric acid for batteries and galvanization later. The thing is that forest is a biome that can (slowly) propagate themselves, which is why even though charts may say humid subtropical climates will have grassland and shrubs alongside forest, the less deforested areas of these climates usually still get covered in tropical moist forest (picrel). Given /risu/'s rather sustainable way of logging, it's safe to say that their activities don't disrupt the ecosystem enough to cause the forest to retract, hence my thought on it being mostly forested.

Opinion of fellow deadbeats would be welcome here, but I imagine it somewhat like that: it's cold enough to have gentle eternal snows even at the bottom of the volcano's cone, a radius of maybe 5 kilometers, as that is the point with the highest concentration of chuubanite. Then the thermal effects fade away slowly as you move away, until the cooling effects of the chuubanite are completely negligible at 100-200 kilometers of distance.

Admittedly, the wording can be interpreted in different way, but if its precipitation is always snow, it's safe to assume the ground will be frozen almost all the time as well. From the bottom of the mountain to the edge of the Chill Zone, there will be more or less a series of roughly circular, concentric climate zones, from the centre to edge:
-Icecap (EF)
-Tundra (ET)
-Subarctic (Dfd~Dfc), rainfall is sparse both because of the low temperate and the permanent high pressure zone preventing wetter air from flowing in, although seasonal temperature change is still observable, meaning that rings outside of this will differ between the north and south.
-North: Continental (Dfb~Dfa) / South: Subtropical highland (Cwc~Cwb), the difference mostly due to rainfall pattern, with the south receiving a lot of rain during summer
-North: Cool semi-arid (BSk) / South: Subtropical monsoon(Cwa), with differences similar to above, this is also probably where the Chill Zone ends, and the surrounding area has temperature pattern mostly unaffected by it.
It should be noted that depending on local topography, the range of each zone can be fairly small, and some might not be distinct enough to have a noticeable effect, but it could still affect rainfall patterns, mostly in the form of making the area between Mt. Mori and the eastern ridge dry all-year.

For the rest of the island, in the south, the climate probably has a more belt-like distribution, from tropical monsoon at the southwestern coast to tropical savanna in the majority of the flatland. The northern coast is more suitable for grape and olive, although production might be limited by lack of land space.
Usually, grapes do best if they're in a climate with dry summer and wet winter, which the perpetually cold and dry(-ish) Mt. Mori unfortunately prevents. It might result in poor grapes quality, although that could be offset by higher chuubanite content presumably in the surrounding soil (either by its own merit, or if it has some effect beyond making things chill).

The chuubanite can absorb energy as easily as it can release it. Something is causing the chuubanite to release energy more than it can absorb. Which is why the chuubanite creates cold: its constantly absorbing the heat around it because something is syphoning the energy away. Could be a weird lava flow or something. Just my thoughts.

Ah, this reminds me of that planetary sciences course I took. Mainly for the easy GPA, but I ended up really enjoying it. This all checks out to me. Having the grape growth be chuubanite-empowered by the Goddess' love for wine is attractive, we might make it a very limited but premium vintage, as it literally can't be grown anywhere other than the small area where the chuubanite concentration is high enough but the soil is also not frozen. I've wondered about where the energy could be going too. I'm thinking similarly to you, either it's accumulating in the hotspot below the volcano in preparation for the endtimes eruption, or it's being pumped straight into Mori to empower her psychopomp activities, or a bit of both. Interesting topic to come to when I wake up. Ill make something clear. /inf/ are our allies but im not going to just let them walk around like they own the place. /risu/ owns /risu/ and if /inf/ does anything really stupid like over kill the trees or try to abuse their power in any way then yeah they can GTFO. Its gonna take a fucking long time before /risu/ is anywhere near as advanced as /inf/ though. We also kind of know our place as well, considering if /inf/ wanted to they could just destroy us so its better to make friends. This is the same reason why were going to be friendly with /meat/. Risu is pretty weak as a military until our population boom really kicks in and we are more united as a nation rather than a bunch of tribes scattered about (even though we all worship one oshi).

I plan on making a language for most generals as long as I can. I want to make these languages similar based off of geographic distance, but I also want them to represent their own general. I've already created three more scripts in anticipation of this. one is logographic, and is similar in style to hindi, chinese, and hebrew, and it will be to kat noɬ what chinese is to any mon-khmer language. I plan on making certain mutually intelligent languages based off of this, i'm thinking of making this language for /#/. I have also created one for /wah/, which is to be unlearnable due to having unpronounceable consonants and vowels, it will look similar to hindi and will have lines and circles that descend from a horizontal line like tentacles. I have one for /infinity/, which will be made of entirely palindromes, with each letter having a horizontally flipped identical for this reason, and the language will be written aligned down the middle, the syntax for this one may be palindromic but i have decided that being intentionally unlearnable should be reserved for something eldritch like /wah/, so I may not do this.

Over the fall /nasa/ is going to stockpile on preserved food. We have our bakery in /who/ by then. So we'll be selling bread and wheat throughout the fall and winter. The summer harvest should also be done. So we'll have produce to sell locally as well. Whatever we don't sell or eat for ourselves goes straight to food processing to be canned, dried, and preserved.

Pine tar will be useful to seal the wood for the hen houses. We'll have "dough" insulation so the houses stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. At the moment /nasa/ is looking to breed /who/'s dairy cattle with some high land cattle to create a dairy highland cattle. We're not sure how things will go, but we want to try. If we can't find any good mineral deposits then /nasa/ will have to turn to packaged food exports for money to buy steel, zinc, and aluminium. At least we have coal and shale for fast cash.

The problem isn't domesticating them, it's keeping them. An elephant can eat up to 150kg of food A DAY. scale that up a bit for a mammoth and you are probably looking at something like 200-250kg of food a day, for a single beast. Now, advanced countries like /who/ and /inf/ could most definitely afford to keep a few in zoos and such, but northern lands just wouldn't have that kind of infrastructure in place (specially if you are talking about domesticating entire herds). They would literally eat everything you have and then break their enclosure to go look for more food/water.

Problem with that is just the amount of food they would consume. It is safe to assume the herd would be on the move nearly all the time, going for the next water reservoir while grazing on the way. So killer electric fences are a must have. That said the mammoths might stick to the north rather than go to the south. The vegetation might naturally have more calories because chuubanite exists. The only thing we don't have yet is meat to dehydrate due to how lab grown meat is made. So our meals are vegetarian and tofu-based. The preserved meals last up to thirty years in ideal storage conditions. You'll probably snack of a few rations on the way back home. You are quite far out. As for rapeseed oil (I know what I did), it could be a luxury commodity here for salad dressings.

We really don't have much on the topic put down on paper, but based on our existing circumstances I see a few potential areas of note in this regard:
1. Naval engineering is huge. The deadbeats got to the island on boats, and haven't stopped sailing since then, as fishing has always been a staple in our diet.
2. Metallurgy. We have some iron, but a lot more of other metals such as copper and platinum group metals, so we had to get good at making non-Fe based metal alloys to fulfill all kinds of roles. In particular, our bronzeworking lets us make highly corrosion resistant mechanisms and armor suitable for use on the sea, while steel is reserved for applications where maximum hardness is desired, mainly cutting edges.
3. Aquaculture, particularly of shrimps.
4. Artillery engineering. That is a result of naval engineering, military academies and advanced bronzeworking intersecting; basically we have cannons, we're quite proud of them and we're constantly trying to improve them.

Only thing I could maybe offer is geology, but I'm not very far into my major so my help would likely be limited. One thing I'll say is there's a lot more orogen than I'm used to seeing, as a general rule the majority of land not along faults tends to be shield and platform more than anything else. Additionally, the bands of orogen tend to follow lines of tectonic uplift pretty closely, creating occasionally splotchy bands of orogen rather than splotchy areas. But I'm also used to looking at maps of the Earth and not intimately familiar with plate tectonics, so this might be a different case depending on your plates and the worldbuilding autist might have found something in his research I haven't.
If you need specifically volcanic advice that's the only other thing I could really offer, feel free to ask I suppose.

"1700's" in general, but the world has a bit of a "punk history" approach to accommodate different aesthetics and technology levels handwaiving realism when it comes to technological advantages.
