IRyS needs non-commitment games, like Apex. Every multiplayer session is exactly the same as the all the others. There's no "start" and no "finish" to multiplayer-only games.

The lack of commitment is a sign of negative personal qualities, like laziness and inattention. I mean, it's not a deadly sin (or is it?), you can still empathize and love people who demonstrate some negative qualities. But wouldn't you wish they were better? When people say "I wish IRyS finished so and so game" it's not a personal attack on her, but a wish of her betterment and growth.

You mean the first, normal ending? That would likely take more than 2-3 streams. You need 10 clears to see the credits roll. The first Hades kill is not even an ending.
The true end is poorly paced, and there's a gap between the point where the game's content dries up and the true ending. So I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless you really love the core gameplay (which, I must admit, is pretty damn fun). Lategame is too much grind.

Someone might not enjoy eating healthy (yeah, this is a food analogy), but there is a very good point to it. And I have anecdotal evidence of forcing myself to play the game, and then it picks up and gets really good later.

The fun parts of the game are more often spread through it evenly, and not just concentrated in the first few hours. It's fun both experiencing them, as well as watching the people you like experience and react to them in turn.
Of course, if playing a game becomes a chore, it defeats the purpose of being a game. However, I do not believe IRyS loses interest in games because she's not having fun, or bored with them. But rather because her attention just jumps to the next thing. That's different.

Man. I played through FF12 for that reason. Upon getting to the ending, I was like: "WTF was the fucking point?" Then again, I reached that thought midway through. From then onward, I swore off any new FF game past 12.

Yeah, it goes both ways. You just won't know until you experience it. The thing is, with longer games she has to commit several streams to slog through as opposed to shorter games which, if she ends up not enjoying it it's only 1 stream wasted.

Trying out games just for fun is totally fine and she shouldn't play games she doesn't enjoy but she does seem to drop games that she's having a good time with. Even that is pretty normal for a streamer since you have to worry about numbers, but there's no denying that people like to see streamers beat a game. The Elite Four & Cynthia battle in Pokemon and the last couple of screens in Jump King were always the parts with the most live viewers

She only needs 1 stream to decide if she's not enjoying the game, regardless of the length though. Again, as I said in my previous post, I don't think she doesn't finish the games because she's not enjoying them. You don't spend 40 hours playing a game if you're not enjoying it. Having a short attention spam is an entirely different reason. This is an issue of willpower, and I believe willpower is a skill you can train.

Agreed. I don't think chasing a FOTM game and dropping an existing LP is worth it even from numberfagging standpoint. Long(er) running LPs build up more audience, and let them bond with the streamer by sharing the experience of the game. FOTM audience goes as easily as it comes.

Yeah it's hard to quantify the value of seeing a series through to the end like that but it definitely exists. I would get told I don't watch IRyS for the right reasons here but I was attached to KusaKameRyS and it would have been nice to see him win and beat the game.

I'm saying this is possible. Some games sucker you in with a strong start with aspects you enjoy and then those aspects start to get worse over time. That doesn't mean it's a bad game, it just wasn't a right fit for that player. A lot of outside stuff can also influence the enjoyment of something too, for example IRyS' concern about viewers not wanting to join a long series midway. That doesn't mean it's true, but it CAN affect her enjoyment of it. If you believe it's solely the short attention span that's causing her to drop games, then I don't know what else to say.

Japanese companies are very autistic about this too, they aren't going to take "some official looking game forum said it's okay" as a basis for permission.

That's why "Cover is playing safe" means.
They won't greenlight a game for streaming by their talents, just because of a permission on the dev/publisher website. Not anymore. They will pester them until they get an explicit written permission.
