Just like at how we use otaku in english, to mean specifically fascination with a specific country's media of a specific kind/aesthetic, which isn't the original meaning at all. Same for anime, or, hell, vtubers. The word literally means Virtual Youtubers and is used on Twitch all the time. It's just not convenient to make a new word for a different website, so nobody did.
