If I look at my closest rural Amtrak station, it's $110 for a 8h ride and it leaves two full days before the convention. If I drive 30 minutes away from that to the closest small city, it's a $30 ticket for a 6h ride, which is insane and I'm starting to get pissed off living in the country.
Either that or a $150 plane ticket to LaGuardia with a $9/d parking cost. But it's probably easier and cheaper considering the NYC station is like a 10 minute walk from the con center, and I can take the train up the rest of the east coast for another $80 that Monday morning, which is still cheaper than a single plane ticket.
