But the reason why is because it's way easier in the girl's minds to "play with the sub-branch" than it is to "work with the equals."
Obviously the girls don't really care TOO much about perceptions of their interactions with each other, but they obviously care a little bit, enough to want to avoid something that could be seen as a minor faux pas, for the most part. So they tend to be a bit more "nice," a bit more "polite," less likely to jump on opportunities for interaction if it doesn't seem as safe. That only tends to happen with smaller groups that are much more sure of each other's boundaries. Basically, they work in their boundaries and rarely push them.
For ID, EN just straight-up does not have to give a shit about that. They have no risk, and ID feels no risk outside of "oshi-kouhai" collabs. And even then, IDs tend to break out of that politeness quickly. So they don't have to hold back on boundaries.
