>>31360704 i know. equity is a disease. you might see it as unfair that newfags have limitations on them that weren't there for oldfags, and you might also see it as unfair that someone who spent years honing a craft and making a name for themselves would be better and more recognized for their work than someone who only showed up a day ago, but if that were true, then i guess life isn't fair. truth is, life is the only thing that is fair, as everything else is subjective, and any attempt to make life fair comes at the cost of merit, which is not something i want us to sacrifice. i wanted our magic system to be dynamic specifically to allow people to have as many different options as possible so that we could populate this setting with as many unique and interesting mechanisms as possible, and people who copy the hard work of others without putting any of their own effort into it threaten to stifle that vision.
keep it as a last resort, and help them figure out other ideas wherever possible, but there should be a stigma against making your idea too similar to another if you have other options that also apply to a similar extent. again, this is only if they have other options, and this should ultimately be up to us to decide to what extent we enforce this stigma, but it should be there none the less. that is at least my interpretation of it. i don't want to discourage newfags to enter, which is why we should help them, but i don't want newfags to decrease the uniqueness of an oldfag's idea just because they couldn't be bothered to think of a better idea.

Honest question, are you a bad writer if you cannot make ways to use chuubanite. For example, if i am fighting the black fleet, it seems like their magictec weapons would win every time unless someone used clever tactics. Infinity is an exception with their advanced tech but where does that leave the rest of us with normal tech? Not gaming here as much as asking from a lore realism perspective, whats the point of not using Chuubanite if you cannot have tech worth while.

Science doesnt help me either but i feel as a writer for a general that has 150 chuubas with different concepts that the concepts behind Chuubanite do not mess well. Our thread culture is just talking about “she is cute” or “this person is streaming” or drama (not that often) . Its disorganized and lacks a centeral concept i can work on for this. >>31363735 real world skills have quite a bit to do with it. do you think you could write like panon? i do not want to punish merit, which is exactly what would happen if we do not stigmatize lazy world building. limitations breed creativity. if you think allowing people to handwave the magic system away and just copy someone else's work will lead to anything but a decrease in fun, then we have fundamental differences of opinion, because i can't even imagine that being fun in the short term, but it will definitely get worse in the long run. how fun is it to buy a fully maxed out character in an mmorpg? "you get to go right into the action" is a cop out by people who literally don't care about playing the game. at best, they might enjoy hanging out with the community before they collectively find some other fotm crap to parasitize off of. they are fickle, in other words. i don't want to encourage that kind of mindset.
>Im talking out of principle, and i wont give up that principle. as am i. and i think your principles might be faulty here.
>>31364341 there are more variables to consider than technology and magic. culture, allies, your environment. there are treatises on all the different factors that will determine advantages just in the military sense, nevermind the political or economic sense.

>>31364965 if all else fails, you can have multiple types of chuubanite based on aspects of your thread culture that cannot mix at all, including chuubas, but ideally you would distil it down to one. if cuteness is a major factor in your thread culture, you can also have it be influenced somewhat by that. there are probably abstract concepts that can apply to your whole thread if you make the right mental connections.
Anonymous
>>31364818 >do you think you could write like panon? Not as fast as him, but I do think my own style of writing is valid enough.
I also do not want to punish merit, but someone using a similar idea on a /vt/ worldbuilding project isnt punishing merit.
Again, im not talking about copying nor am i talking abotu handwaving way the magic system, stop putting words into my mouth man. I'm talking about people coming up with similar ideas and both wanting to use them. Just because you are a slower writer, for example, doesnt mean you should throw your plans away if someone canonizes a similar idea to yours first. Neither should a newfag be told he cant have X because someone else did it and his idea is "too similar".
Your hypothetical scenario where everyone copies everyone's work is not going to become a reality, because most people want to be unique and want to build unique things for their nations. Its a blatant red herring argument.
I dont think this project should be turned into a writing competition where only the fastest and always /here/ people get to have cool stuff and do cool stuff. That would be very unfun, very boring, and very stressful. This project should be a thing of fun.
And if your principle disagrees with that, I think it is the faulty one.

I have virtually no interest in the stuff and unironically considering writing it into cannon that KFP is especially chuubanite poor just so I have an excuse not to write anything with Chuubanite.
If you're worried about falling behind, then my advice is to find your own alternative. In my case that's being hyper militaristic, weaponizing memetic theory, and Flammenwerfers powered by Phoenix fire. In the case of Moriji its being a trade hub with really productive dockyards that sustain a huge navy. What that looks like for you will probably be different.
If you still want to use Chuubanite though, maybe Nijisanji JP general can have a limited number of large especially powerful gems, each of which are for a single members. All of which have their own unique purpose. Just my thoughts though
alice !5/2kkxYfkE
>>31365509 The way i think of it. Our navy is better coordinated and can get the big ships where they need to be as fast as possible. 7c. No, I think the rentry idea others were throwing around would be more secure and should be the standard instead. Trip verification only works if whoever counts the votes is actually paying attention and verifying that they match up. In this very vote, Sol and Rosemaiden both came out of hiding to vote on this with brand new trips then left (I'm not accusing them of being fake or anything, just pointing out that anyone could pretend to vote for someone absent or even use an incorrect trip and there's a decent chance it would go unnoticed if the rep wasn't there to speak up for themselves). If all the nations had established rentry links they wrote their votes on that were collected in a singular place in the lore doc, then the current voteanon could tally everything from there and be sure that all the votes are valid without any effort. Of course, people can still publicly post their votes in the thread for visibility and discussion, but the rentry should be what is considered the official ballot with trips serving as optional additional security.

It seems people just want the naming to be over with, but that's no reason to rush things. Yes, a revote could be done, but this is more likely to stick than I think people realize. The northern and southern oceans aren't even near most of your countries anyway, so you would have little reason to reference them in the meantime. The main advantage I see with the rentry system is that people can impersonate trips fairly easily if the thread is too lazy to check the trip. With the rentry, laziness works in our favor since the votes are always in a static location. So even if someone posts a false rentry, it won't be in the lore doc when we tally the votes so it won't be counted.

I feel like the real reason that some of you are against trips is that you hate the idea of losing your own anonymity for one post more than anything. Not involved but making a vote lore doc would just be clogging up the archive more than it needs to have. No method is perfect, but trips are fine to use for one post and its hard to abuse them.

Actually impersonating a trip takes some effort, but you'd be surprised how easy it is to throw on a random trip and still masquerade as someone without getting caught. Alright gonna ask here again
Uhh geologyAnon if you are here what do you think the type of iron ore in /who/'s IOCG and VMS deposits would be? And what about coal? Would there be any coal and iron deposits that intersect or are relatively close to each other? I spent some time watching an ore deposit 101 guide but since I don't know the specifics of how the Rrat mountains \formed I'm not sure what the characteristics of the iron ore produced would be. Would they be relatively free of phosphorus? The close availability of high quality iron ore would change the metallurgical history of /who/ quite a lot. Or should I ignore it and have a couple of big mines with relatively high purity iron ore just for shits and giggles?
In the case that the iron ore would mostly be relatively poor in quality:
/who/ is still quite big. Would the deposits formed in the West by leaching from the Eastern deposits be relatively free of things like phosphorus? Would the resulting VMT type deposits be a little easier to work with? And although I need to look into this more but are apatite-iron oxide type deposits possible to be formed in /who/? The video I watched said that IOCGs vary quite a bit in terms of quality. Even if the general quality is poor industry would probably still pop up in places where they are more readily exploited.

>>31385043 Right now its just an idea. Apparently I have a famous post about wanting Sanalites meeting Comfydants because Sanalites could show Comfydants how technology can co-exist with nature. Our starship interiors are green and blue from the gardens and artificial sea to generate oxygen. Due to how Comfydants are with their ideologies with rejecting technology the Sanalite author instead writes a storybook about a bread dog who's made from nature and technology exploring Comfydant lands.

>>31379812 Alright, gave your magic cannon doc a look. Mechanics are outside my field of expertise, but it was an interesting read nonetheless! Correct me if I'm wrong -- agian, mechanics are not my expertise and honestly neither are weapons -- but isn't this actually more like a railgun than a cannon? And I feel it would thus have similar weaknesses to a railgun, namely either its accuracy at any significant distance is going to be highly questionable or, if it's moving quickly enough that accuracy isn't a problem, then...well, I'm pretty sure the heat caused by something moving that fast would just kill the operator.
>>31385475 Hmm...I wouldn't say Comfydants are anti-technology as a whole. It'd be quite a counter-productive viewpoint, given they're cyborgs! It's more that they're extreme environmentalists. So it's not "technology is EVIL" as much as "stop using fossil fuels, you're killing the planet." I do like the idea of a story about a bread dog exploring Comfydant lands, though! Since it's fiction anyway, perhaps you could put a spin on it by actually having the bread dog exploring a location in the bad timeline Comfydants originally came from? That would allow you to really emphasize the difference in the way Sanalites and Comfydants view technology. Depending on how fantastical you'd like it to be, maybe it ends with the bread dog revitalizing the land -- or if you'd prefer a more realistic approach, then it's about the bread dog teaching the locals how to do it themselves over generations. Perhaps the book could even be a children's book, written out of the Sanalite author's desire to show nature coexisting with technology? Of course, these are all just suggestions. Feel free to use or discard these ideas as you please.

If you're going to save /nasa/'s starship then I have a few comments: 1) Realistically you cannot save all of /nasa/'s data, let alone 10% of it in a hurry. At best /nasa/'s tablets have a Pentabyte (1000ish Terrabytes) of data, implying SSDs can get that realistically small. There wouldn't be enough survivors with datapads and data drives to store everything in Lamington in a hurry. Only essential data will be copied. 2) Datapads need more than solar energy to charge fully. It maybe possible to take enough batteries to charge a datapad long enough to write down /nasa/'s documents by hand. Know that eventually datapads will die. 3) All bread dogs will be ordered to defend the station. I've decided that the wandering bread dog is fiction based on a mythological beast. Also if the station takes off then the bread dogs go with it. 5) If the station takes off then some Sanalites will stay behind by choice. These Sanalites will move to other generals and immigrate save for a few wanderers. 6) If we are going to do the take-off ending then the datapads will be replaced by already printed text books including /nasa/'s history, food recipes, and survival guides. I don't know how everyone is going to retcon the ending. But this is my thoughts on what to consider. What I do know is the schizos will team up with Mozzies to attack /nasa/. And it will be a brutal escape.

>>31388320 Thanks! Great questions. I would say that no, it isn't quite a railgun. A railgun accelerates the projectile through the Lorentz force, which doesn't really have a vitubic analogy
yet, I have some ideas for that . The main issue with them is that the contact force between the projectile and the rails has to be pretty strong so that the current can travel through them, which results in a lot of friction, heat, and wear and tear as you say. This requirements aren't present here. The chuubanite cannon is actually closer to a crossbow, funnily enough. The reason I say that is that gas expansion (the way firearms accelerate projectiles), though it can have an influence depending on the ratio of the energy that gets converted to momentum vs heat, is not the main thing that accelerates the projectile. Instead, it's potential energy which gets stored in the chuubanite (like the energy stored in the string of a crossbow) and that is converted directly to kinetic energy. So it's kinda like a gun shaped magical ballista that can achieve higher power density than a conventional ballista.
Granted, there would be a lot of heat happening. It's only arbitrary, but I reckon maybe 20 to 40% of the energy generated by the chuubanite would end up as heat instead of kinetic energy, with further waste losses due to friction in the bore.
Oh, I was curious about what you thought of the concept of energy being introduced into the Vitium Field, amplified there, and then expelled back into the Earthly Realm? I feel like this is something that is essentially introduced by the chuubanite powers and the magic quanta entry, but this formalizes how it works a bit more maybe.

Regarding the idea of energy being amplified in the Vitium Field and then expelled back into the Earthly Realm, as you said, I think this ability was more or less implied by the magic quanta writeup, but this does work towards properly codifying it. There are many of these sorts of implied rules and uses of chuubanite still just sort of floating around, and I do hope to eventually write them all out in detail, since part of the goal with this new document is to not leave information scattered across the archives. When I get around to doing that, the work you've done here -- particularly the idea of the VFE -- will be quite useful, so thank you for your efforts! Of course, this sort of work will essentially never be done as anons continue to come up with new uses for chuubanite's mundane properties, but that's part of what makes it so important that we keep up with efforts to compile everything.

>>31365324 sorry for the late response. lots of irl stuff today, i guess. equity is the root of almost all of modern evil. it is the scourge that all other forms of social degeneracy come from in one way or another, you and i will never see eye to eye if that is the "principle" you are supposedly standing on. with that said, there is no point in making this a discussion of principle. i am only discussing it because it is important in a real-life context, but if you didn't bring up principles, it would have had no bearing on this discussion.
this discussion was caused by a few misunderstandings. read my previous comments to verify, but i have been trying to emphasize this stuff the whole time, it's just that irrelevant comments such as the one on principles kept getting in the way, and my principles prevent me from just ignoring off-hand remarks if they aren't to my standard of accuracy.
1) you can mimic other chuubanite abilities using glyphs and activator substances. there is no ability to "monopolize entire branches of chuubanite abilities" nor is there theoretically any way to monopolize individual chuubanite abilities, in universe it takes effort to do this, but out of universe you just need to think of a hand full of conditions and you're done. anyone can theoretically have any ability so long as they explained it as requiring a set of other conditions instead of having it as the natural, passive ability of their chuubanite.
2) with that being said, to preserve the uniqueness of each ability, to reward the time, effort, and risks taken by those who were first to lay claim to their niche, and to increase the diversity and uniqueness of the setting to give each corner of the world something interesting that is special to them personally, i want to create an incentive structure that allows people to take ideas from others but still explicitly encourages them to make their own unique ideas whenever possible. the method i suggest for that takes the form of scrutiny that can be disregarded with ease. it would amount to a mere, impotent suggestion that we as a community can choose to never enforce at all if we so choose, and if there is never an instance where we would need to enforce it. all i want is a reminder written clear as day that this should be the goal we are striving for. all i ever wanted was a bit of scrutiny.
nitpicking about all the apparent projection, and misinterpretations, such as how you accuse me of using a "blatant red herring" because you apparently know about as much about what a red herring is as you do about what reductio ad absurdum means, all of that is a mere distraction that will make it harder for you to understand what i am saying. tell me you understand this much before i discuss anything else, and if you really want to make it about principle, tell me what your principles even are, otherwise i can't figure out how they can work together with mine.

>>31388320 Sorry about the mess I made earlier. So I know about your bad timeline that Comfydants time traveled back to the past from. I know Comfydants want to stop using fossil fuels. However I think the Sanalite will explain to comfydant that fossil fuels is a necessary stepping stone to restore technology. You need coal to forge steel and fuel water boilers for steam engines. You need steam engine powered drills to dig for crude oil which will be necessary not as fuel but as lubricants for even the small machines that build computer chips.
The thing about pollution during the industrial revolution is humans did not know better. They exploited resources without thinking of the consequences until its too late. Human hindsight is 20/20. We will make many mistakes, but we will learn from them. Both Sanalites and Comfydants have that hindsight. As long as we preserve our history we can know which resources produce clean energy. If we had more time we could have created a chuubanite alternative to nuclear fission. Fission and fusion is also how Sanalites kept their stations clean. It'd be a facinating conversation.

I never said anything about retconning all the established lore like the techs, the GD, and bread dogs.
I went through all the lore posts in the archive before and I will keep doing so.
/meat/ as a nation will stay out of this.
My grand plan you ask? What I am writing however, is to
1. Get the Councils more involved in this. Basically, leading up to the foundation of /cope/, somewhere a month or two before the graduation arc.
2. Justify some /hlgg/ support to help the Sanalites. /rushia/'s meltdown happened before /vtwbg/ was fully established and many nations were isolationists. Now, they would lend a help. What kind of HRE Emperor would let even one of his Free City fell to the saracens or Mongols?

Lamington will go into unknown space (symbolic for following roomate stuff) while the rest of the Sanalites make new homes in other nations.
This is the last fucking idea I have for this ending I swear. And it just popped in my head right now. Take it or leave it.

Rather than plan for /cope/ like that I think it's better to write about it after it actually has been placed on the map. Having it so far away from /HIRyS/ and /inf/ also dosen't make that much sense in that case. Deal time.
May Alice's Bateman spirit guide me. >>31410632 >>31412594 The Position of /nasa/ as A Writing Element Following the Dissolution of /nasa/ Act
My offering:
1. I will not remove every pre-established lore such as GD, Cassandra and her powers, Bread Dog production, and the named characters.
2. The absolute fate of Lammington will be leaving /vt/ to symbolize roommate followers. However:
a) The schizo attack will now have less casualties, signifying out-of-universe's calm graduation and in-universe's allies coming to help.
b) The remains of any space-tech left behind will be kept by Sanalite emigre. No looting.
c) I will not make the Janny attack epilogue (
https://rentry.org/vtwbg-nasaepilogue ) an absolute ending. That will be retconned into a rrat in-universe.
3. I will not shoehorn /meat/ in anywhere or anything here. The character's role is now as an observer/auxiliary. Not a driving force.
a) Same goes for any non-Sanalites at the time such as the Onobot, Risuners, Hoomen, Brrats, Saplings, and Lunaito party.
Your offering:
1. With the state of /nasa/ as a general is now legacy, dissolve power and authority to write for /nasa/ lore and establish a round robin one. Writing for /nasa/ (or any defunct legacy generals such as /rushia/) can now be done by anyone interested under the following prerequisites;
a) Does not completely retcon the ending and any other established lore.
b) Canonize only after the review and approval of multiple writers.
c) Takes place before the Graduation Arc.
d) Any Sanalites mentioned in stories post-Grad Arc are considered emigrants/naturalised citizens who left before the Graduation Arc. Their status is up to the writer of whatever nation they are in.
2. Compile every, any and all unfulfilled ideas you and Cunt had. Every single scrap even rumors back in /nasa/ for these can be salvaged, revitalised, and improved upon;
Plans such as
a) Speculative wildlife, space wildlife, unique creatures on-board Lammington.
b) Pre-descent space mythos and adventures. This includes their analogies of happenings on /nasa/ threads.
c) Sanalite cultural rites and traditions that were not fully fleshed out.
d) Every radical over the top ideas such as the Star-Child.
The contents of this deal are up to discussion until both parties are satisfied.
Once approved, this deal will be submitted for voting.

What I do know is that this assault cannot happen without Mozzies, who are Sana's anti-schizos, traitors, and imposters. News of graduation will be picked up by Mozzies. They will plan the attack with schizos. Mozzies are like Sanalites with planning. They know our weak spots and escape routes. They are key for the schizo attacks to be successful.
Kirby village would declare independence after the Risuner satay incedent. So Jonathan would have no reason to support Kirby Village, despite it being /nasa/'s first line of defense. Eventually Johnny will have to stand down and let Alex back in control. These are my ideas so far.

>>31417175 I can see two obvious paths. First, the human-like Palkyries could chimeras, like Risuners, where they get human DNA from one parent, Palkyrie DNA from the other parent, and both combine to create them. The precedent for this phenomenon in /vtwbg/ so I think it would be sensible to use it.
The other way would be to have the human-palkyrie and the pet-palkyries share an ancestry millions of years ago and they simply evolved apart, with the pet remaining more beastly while the human became more tribal.
I'm sure there' a third path and more, that's just the first I can think of.

>>31417175 my friend, creating a script is the best part! it's why i've made so many. if i have say, i would say we make our own, it can be featural, even a syllabary. funnily enough, though, straight up hangul might make even sense in vt, because it was literally created to look like a cross section of your mouth from the left as you made the sounds each letter represents. assuming oral structures remain the same, the exact same could happen in this world, though vowels may vary

>>31417547 Ah, basically, 1130 years ago, /vt/ was split from /jp/. Concisely, the world of /jp/ was copied, without the JPanons, and placed in a different dimension. With a few errors and differences in the copy, but by and large, the world remained similar, with roughly the same main landmasses and biosphere for example. Before the split, how long things existed is unclear, I think. My headcanon is that so that all the spec bio we have so far works, the lifeforms have to have existed for a long time (millions of years), preceding even the existence of /jp/, which means there might have been other "dimension transport" events, such as the creation of 4chan.
Tell me if anything I'm saying doesn't make sense.
Anonymous
>>31417659 We have our own script then! I think Mujigae has Hangul (need to ask the rep for that), so maybe during the Mujigae period the language was written in Hangul, and the native script is used both before and after that, although nowadays both are used by different people

>>31418035 agh, whatever, we can hash that out later, do you want it to look like hangul (syllable blocks) or do you want it too be a syllabary/abugida, maybe featural? i can offer true alphabets, abjads, and such, but my reasoning for my aversion to segmental stuff is that syllabaries and syllable blocks are a lot more compact and thus better for agglutinative languages (which this would probably be) and i'm not going near nonlinear, logographs or semanto-phonetic systems because that would be actual hell and we would never finish it
