I think the main issue with the line of thinking is in seeing the current trajectory and extrapolating on the assumption the downward trend continues endlessly, when what we've seen over the years is that Mori keeps on cycling between good and bad patches, so while we're at what is hopefully the nadir right now, I fully expect that things will rocket back up soon enough.
I really don't like the current state of things, but it's still incomparable to the legitimate threat of graduation we had back then and everything we would have missed had it happened.
