>>37582366Do you remember those kids from highschool that hung out with the popular group, but weren't actually popular? The ones who would gossip about drama over who fucked x or cheated on y, but never got a chance to fuck or cheat? The ones who had no real interests or hobbies of their own, no social lives outside of school beyond being a link in the gossip chain, just watched and read and listened to whatever was popular and yet somehow enigmatically had terrible grades despite having no hobbies or social life to distract them?
Those are the people who become vtubers. The lucky ones get shunted off to university by wealthy parents and 'find themselves' in the midst of some fine art or general science degree, but the rest just end up living at home through their 20s, losing contact with all their friends, getting pushed into a mcjob by their parents and then coasting while their social skills atrophy, eventually filling the void with anime, multiplayer gaming and streams because they're free and social and then getting groomed into trying it themselves because they lack the financial literacy to realize how terrible of a job it is. For every 10,000 of them, one gets lucky and becomes a corpo or blows up as an indie. That's the whole talent pool in a nutshell.
