Plan was to lower it slowly until they found the bottom, measure the depth and get some footage of the lower floors and the bottom. Well, the rope ran out with no bottom in sight. Instead of pulling it all the way back up, they untied the rope, attaching a battery for the camera at the end, and let it fall to see what happened.
A week later, the camera, 5km rope in tow, was seen falling down the tower again, to the shock of everyone. They quickly hatched a plan to grab the falling objects at the next pass by mounting a net across the "roof" floor.
Ffw another week, and the plan was indeed successful, so they thought to review the footage the camera caught. The screams of the first witnesses were said to have been heard throughout the whole length of the inhabited parts of the tower. None of the original viewers survived, not with their sanity intact at least, and the remaining team members said they destroyed the footage without seeing it. However, it is rumoured that, if you find yourself in a seemingly abandoned floor with a decrepit PC room at the end of the 2nd corridor on the left of the elevator, at its corner you may find a singular PC, emitting a faint blue light, containing the data thought to be gone...
