>>54029093> You know, all the rrats that spawn in /nijien/ and catalog tourists take it as the ultimate truthThere's a bit of nuance with how 4chan works that a lot of people haven't understood since most of this board is composed of newfags.
Shitposts and blatant lies used to be a way for a community to gatekeep newcomers. This worked for most of 4chan's life since there was never a point of a huge outside invasion into a particular part of the site (except for 2016 /pol/) so it's a tried and true method of identifying newfags.
Newfags beleb the stupid shitposts and keep repeating it and the regulars keep laughing at them.
Problem is, in a board as filled with newfags as /vt/, this strategy doesn't really work, since most people are splintered across different VTubers, companies and even languages, yet all have only this place to discuss things.
When a stupid rrat gets posted in the hololive thread for (e.g. Miko raped Pekora, Towa is a boy, Ayame hates Koreans etc.) they're usually shitposts made for fun and ignored. There's no real harm done even if someone believes and repeats it, - it's just a filter for newfags and lol material for regulars.
But any rrat that can be CLOSE to the truth? That shit will get 5-6 (You)s shitting on it.
That way lurking know that it's fake, and it's spread will be limited to trolls and antis (easily identifiable).
Nijisanji threads have the unfortunate tendency to think that just not replying to this stuff works. There was a guy who made up a rrat about Sasaki bullying Luna, and there's even now some people that believe it actually happened, because those two were close and Luna's PL DID graduate without having any visitors on her stream.
Plausible rrats posted in /NijiEN/ don't get any (You)s shitting on it, and so lurkers will think it's actually true. By the time someone corrects it (if they even can), 60% of the board already thinks it's true.
