There are a ton of unfortunate consequences to the fact that human babies are born with massive heads (to accommodate a larger brain) and that somehow women need to be able to push such a thing out of their pelvis. Increased rates of hip fracture, increased risk of knee problems and the incredibly frequent need for C section are just a few of the examples. The fact that over 1 third of women died in childbirth before the advent of modern medicine is another result from how overdeveloped human brains are.
And yet it's still not enough, because babies come out woefully underdeveloped and completely helpless, whereas other animal babies are capable of moving and communicating at a basic level hours after birth.
The only reason such a thing can occur is because human society allows for the protection of pregnant women and newborn babies while they're in these incredibly vulnerable, basically useless states.
