>>56512363ok, i'll try to be succinct and clear, but just forewarning that it's going to sound schizo. and with the degree i have to condense the explanation, there'll be lots of leaps.
the first thing to get out of the way is that lots of cognitivephysical processes are atrophying rapidly among the population, primarily due to, imo, screens. people focus on deskwarrioring which is also really bad, but honestly the actual worst thing is that screens teach you to keep your head still and tighten your neck. in general, just to sum it up: people lose the ability to dynamically balance, and learn to balance mostly by 'holding.'
fwiw, i'm not some ultra graceful person. i've lived my entire life wondering why my posture is awful, and why it's worse than others even though i pursue fitness stuff. i won't get into it, but i've spent a lot of time getting from subhuman creature to normal populace level. kind of like shirogane in kaguyasama.
so, to bring this around to treadmills. those cognitive physical processes i mentioned earlier, very intimately related to walking. generally people have deadened vestibular systems. their ability to take in ambient optical information from their peripheral vision is deadened. their ability to shift which of their eyes is focusing and which eye is diverging is completely lost, and they have a chronically focused dominant eye(your right eye), and so they lose true bifocal vision. add to this that people nowadays already find it hard to properly shift gait (they walk as if their right leg is always in stance phase, even when it's swinging through the air) and the end result is people are walking through life not knowing what it means to actually move with leverage.
treadmills make all this shit a million times worse, and do it while you're in a particularly fatigued and shitty state. it's already bad enough we're losing our souls looking at screens. there's no need to take one of the most therapeutic activities, running, and make it more injury prone while also deadening our sense of the world even more.
i dont know if this is sufficient explanation. i can go into more specifics but like i said it's a really autistic rabbit hole
