Which is a shame since their design team really stepped up for Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet, on the technical side they're both complete messes. You can go back and say that every Pokemon has been behind in terms of tech if you want (all the bugs in gen 1, gen 2 needing to be redone by Iwata, gen 3's berry bug and bad sprite work compared to other GBA games, gen 4's slowness, gen 5's weird animated sprites, and all the issues of the 3D games), but some of those are more subjective than others.
