>>68201911In a sea of mediocrity, when you could click on just about anything and risk wasting your time on a stream you won't enjoy, doesn't it make sense to instead check out a stream that has a stamp of approval from a corporation with a good track record for scouting good streamers? Also, I think joining a corporation, especially Hololive, might actually make vtubers more entertaining to watch, for some reason. Maybe their manager gives them advice or they get tech support or they simply get access to a higher quality pool of collab partners - something clearly happens, because I know for a fact most Holos were not very entertaining before joining Hololive.
Hololive wasn't very entertaining either before the summer of 2020. Something changed. I've watched through old VODs on the chink archive and they were full of dead air and mumbling and just a general lack of enthusiasm. I don't think it was until Korone's Doom playthrough that I felt something changing. That summer was full of debuts and controversies, but it's also when Hololive became so dominant. It's hard to say what happened first and why, but something changed them from girls sitting at a computer to professional entertainers.
