>>7195450It's central europe in here, so the mindset is pretty much similar - increasing social status and ego-jerking all over the place.
I'm past the "he's normal so we can accept him" point. I've been appointed weirdo since the elementary school, so I don't really care if they see me that way. Trying to win their approval pretty much means becoming the same as them. Something I'm not willing to accept.
The problem is this approach brings social isolation. You just got me thinking, that increased technical skills are coping mechanism for weak social skills. Sort of a hostage situation where I can exchange my technical knowledge for human company and interaction, which I wouldn't get otherwise. Also most likely the reason why I'm discussing this in here instead of live with somebody I could trust enough.
btw have you ever cut contact with a group because you felt you're not part of it but just "tolerated"?
Just wondering if it's something other ppl go through too. Feeling that although you like the folks and would like to keep in touch, it's better to leave them alone, because you feel like a burden on their lives....
>>7195335I really liked the "It's not me vs you. It's us vs the problem. Lets sit down and troubleshoot. Identify the problem, analyze it and figure out possible solutions." approach. Common technical problem solving methodology. Unfortunately it seems that some people have trouble to stay analytical with such approach because it usually involves going through shitload of negative emotions, so it can be even counterproductive.
