Germany cost themselves the war by trying to fight a war against the world on their own for the second time in 20 years. Had they stopped at France and Poland they might've had a decent chance at holding the line against a pissed off rest of the world, but as has been shown countless times through history, successful conquerors never stay successful, because they must conquer. Germany never had a chance against the Russians, no matter what American involvement might've looked like. People forget: Operation Barbarossa was a failure before the Americans ever entered the war. The Germans had planned to do exactly the same thing they had done against the rest of Europe to the Russians, and they failed because Russia was just too damned big and had too many fucking people. A Russian blitzkrieg just wasn't possible, and the Germans didn't have any other plans.
>inb4 if Hitler hadn't overruled his generals and made X bad decision, he would've won the warYeah, if Hitler hadn't been Hitler he could've won the war, but he probably wouldn't have started an unwinnable war in the first place either.
