Protestant's have deviated very far away from 1500+ years of Christianity, that when compared to Orthodoxy, the only similarity is the belief in Christ. So calling Protestants and Orthodox the same faith is very misleading.
But I don't think I'm wrong when referring to the other anon as being lied too for 20+ years if in the end he walked away hating Christianity, that seems like a valid assessment. And his experience might not be the fault of Protestantism intrinsically, but it might have contributed.
If you've been Lutheran your whole life and see no issues with it, then God bless. I wouldn't try to "convert" someone from a Protestant belief to Orthodoxy, because it might "fail" and make them bitter towards both. But for someone who has issues with Christianity, and has a Protestant background, I would definitely suggest reading into Orthodoxy.
