If you do, try to remember the feeling you felt when you'd look down the empty dimly lit hallways you passed by on the way to the auditorium or wherever the event was held.
That feeling is what the "Liminal Space" genre is about. It's seeing something in a state you normally do not see it in and it's a sort of nostalgic eeriness. This isn't exclusive to "school after hours". It can be something like going to a department store that's going out of business and seeing all the empty shelves, or a dead mall, an empty movie theater lobby or even some place that is still regularly used but looks like it hasn't been redecorated since the late 80's. It also has a decent bit of overlap with "the night feeling".
