Wisdom: Every problem has a solution. We all have voids in our lives and different ways of dealing with them. Imagine your problems or weaknesses as a hole in your yard. Filling the hole takes a lot of time and work, throwing a piece of plywood over it may make it so you don't have to look at the hole, but that will eventually rot away as the hole continues to wash out and become deeper. Example: A man with low self esteem using alcohol to cope.
Sometimes there just isn't enough material to fill a void, we all have some things we can't fix. But what if acceptance, serenity, accomplishments in other areas... could be like a little seed. You may never be able to stand in that one spot, but you could plant a tree there and enjoy the shade nearby. Like the example above, I'm an alcoholic. I no longer drink. But all of the shame and damage I'd done from my drinking, I kept using more alcohol as my cheap plywood cover. I could stand in that area of self esteem and confidence for a very short time, shaky and nervous because the cover would fail eventually. I had to remove the cover first in order to fill them. Now, the holes I couldn't fill, damaged relationships, wasted time, money and regrets. I couldn't go back and fill. Coming to terms with that, and setting out to do positive things and build positive relationships now and in the future are the little seeds I could plant there. There will never be level ground there, but I can cope by turning those holes into trees. I'll never be able to stand there but I can enjoy the peaceful shade in the adjacent areas of my life.
How you interpret and approach a problem is what makes the difference. Some people have much worse problems. You may not be able to undo something, but you can find a solution if you frame it in a different way.
