The small volumes of hilariously-lethal waste are what needs to be dealt with, but thanks to the way more radioactivity means more decay, it takes care of itself if you just store it safely for a few centuries. This isn't a ridiculous proposal: all the high-level waste in the entire world, representing 90% of the man-made radioactivity in the world, will fit inside a small McDonald's. Just put it somewhere it can't hurt anything, keep it safe for a few hundred years, and it will dispose of itself.
