There's something to be said for deliberately drilling into a subduction zone so that the waste would be carried away into the mantle, but you would have to dig deep as fuck so it doesn't melt and come out in a radioactive volcano, so it might be more cost-effective to shoot it into the sun.
The best method of dealing with radioactive waste that we know so far is just "put it in well-labelled containers and keep it on the site of a nuclear reactor". After all, nuclear reactors are already built in very safe locations, away from earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters, and are already guarded to make sure nobody does Something Bad to them. So what could be more cost-effective than finding a nuclear reactor that's there already, and building a shed on the same site?
