Up until the 1930s Jews had an easier time in Hungary than in any other place in Europe. Our "civic nationality" only cared about people speaking Hungarian, ethnicity and religion did not matter so a lot of Jews could succeed in this environment. The Jewish scientists here were not really Zionist or religious for that matter, many of them have converted to Catholicism by the 1930s or only attended to religious ceremonies because some schools have mandated it.
There were a lot of Jews in Romania and other parts of Eastern Europe too but they were scattered around is small villages speaking Hebrew or whatever language. It's not our fault you could not integrate your Jews
