No, you don't! Your story is your story, even if it is fanfiction, and it has its own right to be made and heard. People sometimes even prefer fan content over canon precisely -because- their dissatisfaction with the official content creates a desire for something else. If you do enjoy literature, then you should be happy for the chance to engage in it yourself while you have the inspiration. I also enjoy reading and do some writing myself (mostly worldbuilding) in my spare time, and I'm always eager to develop an idea when it comes to me.
I'll leave you with this: I understand your anxiety, and I empathize (there have definitely been times when I've held my breath going into something with Lena just because I've been burned so much in the past with her), but if you truly love her, you'll want that love to be shared and spread far and wide so others can love and enjoy her as well, because that means that she herself is valued and beloved as well. Dread begets dread, but shared love can overcome anything, and we're still here for you.
>>3563507Blizzard has the uncanniest ability of any creator I've known to simultaneously produce quality content -and- make everyone hate them. I don't do "brand loyalty", so I've always considered myself more a fan of what their developers, designers, writers and artists can produce, not who they are as a corporate identity, and I've been critical of their business practices in the past and now. If you've ever had trouble reconciling that, then please take some comfort in knowing that what you love most about the series is the labor of talented and well-intentioned people working together who often receive no credit, not some suit who wants to play footsie with a one-party state for the sake of his bottom line. I think most people are generally aware of that, so I wouldn't worry about something like Lena or Angela being burned in effigy in the streets.
