Gundanium doesn't even make that big a difference except against projectile weapons. In my experience, con sex is def a thing, but it usually sucks. Usually people that go to cons are there with 5+ other people in a tiny ass room. So if you're going to have sex, neither of you can host. So you either have to get to the room while no one else is there, which is usually early in the day, then usually get walked in on. Or, you have to find a restroom or one of your cars, which also sucks. Not to mention, cosplaying helps, and if you or them are cosplaying as something slightly difficult, you risk ruining your cosplay.

In general, going to cons for sex sucks. Doesn't stop me from doing it, though.....

My golden rule about this is: if they do something considered "cute" on purpose, they aren't cute. They're trying to be. The only things that are truly cute are things that they do unintentionally, because it's who they are.

And yes, it's difficult to discern, especially if you just met them. But after a few months, it's easy to see if their personality is completely hollow or not.

I was cosplaying as Rance (a little hastily put together but still good) at a con and actually ran into a chick cosplaying sengoku-style Sill. We hung around for a bit and entertained people who knew about the series and I ended up taking her to my hotel room. She was a lot shorter than me which was a problem but definitely cute. Depends on which ones you go to. Cali ones in LA and Sac has cute girls and aren't fat, most actually know who or what they're cosplaying. I'm not saying there aren't overweight ones but there's more skinny-average ones than them.

Then you have smaller ones that are sort of just events that were put together by college students like AOD that are a crap shoot depending on how much they advertised or spread by word of mouth from previous year.
AOD 2013 was mostly Adventure Time and Homestuck cosplays being the quick ones. A few were pretty well done and a couple guys in Touho costumes. You also get to watch anime in a few rooms if you don't want to play vidya/tabletop games or visit panels.
