>>1355772You're not doing bushcraft survival LARPing, anon, you're backpacking.
You don't need a big ass knife that you can baton hardwood with and chop people's heads off and shit, you just need something that can cut. It'll just weigh you down and you'll find that 95% of what you use the knife for can be done with something much smaller and that the other 5% isn't shit you actually need to be doing.
I'd recommend getting a SAK or Leatherman. They're small, lightweight, durable, and can do everything you need a knife to do and more.
>INB4 I need a big knife to baton firewood. No, you don't. Where there are thick logs there are also twigs. Find kindling, then add fuel. It's pretty fucking simple.
>INB4 I need to chop wood to build a shelter. No, you don't. Bring a bivy/tent/tarp and you're set. Remember, you're going backpacking, not LARPing.
>INB4 I need a durable knife that won't break.Yeah, that would be called a SAK or Leatherman. Those things are indestructible if you use them properly.
What you do need a knife for:
>Cooking. Opening food packages, chopping veggies, shit like that.>Occasionally cutting cordage or rope.>Some whittling if you get bored.>Gutting, skinning, and filleting small fish (and maybe game but unlikely).
