You’re a father.
It’s still hard to believe, even after holding the future in your arms. <span class="mu-i">Maxime and Terra Luna.</span> Swaddled in green and gold, knowing nothing of the world but care and affection, the wide eyes and tiny hands of your children have left you a changed man.
For many months you have felt a shift slowly taking you, sometimes slowly and other times in great steps, but it has been a gradual metamorphosis. When you first held your son in your arms, when you first heard the cry of your daughter, everything which had been slowly building up snapped into place. <span class="mu-i">You’re a father.</span> You’ve created life, tiny and precious, in need of protection and nurturing. Happiness and pride and fear gripped you; the future will be treacherous, your family’s plots against the Zabis have only grown in importance even as you become more deeply entangled with them.
The twins, your children, they must know a world free of the likes of Gihren and Kycilia - And yet you’re irrevocably tied to the Zabis now, the birth of your youngest sister Mineva sealing that connection forever. She’s your sister, nothing will ever change that, but in many ways she’ll be another daughter - The same age as Maxime and Terra Luna, only a few hours separating them. They’ll be like siblings, the three of them, and that gladdens you, but the shadow of politics looms over it all.
Mineva is the product of your own mother’s drive to protect you, Casval, and Artesia. While she is first and foremost a beloved member of your family, half sibling or not, and you would die to protect her, that does nothing to erase her other role. Mineva is a shield to keep the worst of the Zabis away, even if the attempt might be in vain with Gihren and Kycilia about. Simply by existing Mineva is protecting the whole of your family, drawing invisible lines in the already fractious Zabi clan and drawing some of them closer, forming up sides in a conflict which you know to be inevitable.
