what's the general consensus of hot toys because every time i come across a hot toys collector, they just don't seem all that intelligent.

I got into Hot Toys around 2015 or so when an anon here bought a HT Iron Man accidentally when he was getting his friend a gift and got into them for a bit. He helped disspell a lot of preconceived ideas about them like a lack of articulation, and while they aren't Revoltech level he was ale to show off Iron Man posing well. He was also finding some decent prices under $200 on some figures as well.
There was actually some great deals on Mandarake at the time and you could get a bunch of figures for $150 shipped. Like Silver Centurion Iron Man.
That said, both the price and the quality has increased to the point where it's frustrating and too expensive for me to be into them. There's also so many versions of characters you end up double dipping or constantly upgrading It just stopped being fun, and my OCD would flare up when an even more expensive company like InArt would offer a better, pricier version and then the cheaper, lesser version feels pointless. stylized toys will always have their own niche, but with a replica style toy the point will partly be the be the most realistic look. So anything that's not top of the line is at risk of dating quickly.
I do think the comic based figures they've been doing are cool, but also way too pricy for what I'd be willing to spend.

Some of them are really fucking good but you should consider them as slightly poseable statues than anything. Also, at least for most of the Alien and Predator lines, they don't seem to appreciate in value much. They just kinda stay slightly below or slightly above of the original cost most of the time, not sure why.

I'm Jin Saotome, wish I could link you my website but Angelfire has been down for over a week and may never come back up. I've been customizing and designing figures for about 26 years now and switched jobs so I downsized my 30x20 workshop into a single room. I used to work on every figure series/scale but now only focus on 6" and Transformers. Sold all my halo, Star wars, gi joe, MegaMan, and most of my He Man fodder. Tho I did discover a bunch of MotUC stuff I'm not sure what to do with. And a giant box of plastic capes!

I don't want to horde stuff but it's gonna take me a while to sort through pairs of hands I know I won't use and figure out how to list them. Years ago I was selling boxes of fodder parts based on weight but people are looking for specific parts on eBay now.

If you were doing this on EB say 4-5 years ago, I think I reached out to you. We had polite conversations but I ended up not buying because I had no idea what I might do with a random oddball head.

Hopefully, you have that stuff backed up. There's really no way to ensure you would have a permanent on-line repository but you should at least get some of the stuff you are proud of reposted somewhere that would be free - Instagram, even tumblr.

Only the middle one is mine, the others are my kid's, but I do have a decent collection stored away in my basement. I grew up with Pic Related, long before the 90s version everyone raves about was a thing. The original 70's FP castle was *freaking solid*m it was heavy even for an adult and it's play features were much better implemented. I do have a busted up 90s castle I need to clean up before I give to my kid though, but I lost the original during a move many years back.

Sadly the hardest part about collecting Castles is finding worthwhile figures to go with them. They were always too small for Joes and other 3 3/4" figures, but too large for Lego stuff. But after discovering Gashapon Quest, I found they were the perfect figures for Playmobil and similarly sized Castles. After some research I picked that specific castle because it didn't need the outerwalls (which took up too much space) to feel complete. It works well as a small fort or keep on a hill and has enough space to make for a semi-convincing guild hall. It's less a protected fortress for a king and more of a hub for various adventuring parties to gather, feast and gear up before their next journey. Throw in some Re-Ment accessories as decorations, and the whole thing comes together really well.

I still need to find some furniture to fill up some of the rooms under the castle. Mainly I want a smith/item shop under the bridge in the front (there's a big empty room right under the main gate) and I would like to find some tables for an alchemist lab under the main pub. I got a lot of potions and magical items from a Re-ment magic shop set, I just don't have enough shelves and tables to display everything on.

I also plan to try and find a castle for the evil Lich Lord that antagonizes my intrepid adventurers. A place where the Orcs and Goblins and other creatures of the dark lord can gather themselves in their own little evil adventuring hall.
