>>8536872The infantry are those Billy V Afrika Korps troops, which I believe were originally a Matchbox army. They are one of the best armies out there. with great levels of detail, a wide range of poses including an ammo guy for the machine gunners and a General Rommel figure. They've been cloned and copied quite a bit, often intermixed with the poses of the other three Billy V staples, themselves descended from Matchbox and Airfix sets.
The distinctly German tank in pic came from a flea market, couldn't tell you its original maker or what soldiers it came with. The darker grey tank is a mid-size M38 Patton of the Timmee style, also of uncertain origin (I say mid-size as I've got several of that M48 in 1/72 scale as well, this one is in between them and the standard 1/48). The silver blown up tank on the right is a British Centurion that was a common tank to be packed with British and other WW2 armies in sets when I was a kid.
Can't remember the maker of the fortress either but I have seen the soldiers for sale on their own at different times, not recently though. One thing that makes them stand apart from a lot of army men is the plastic used is very rigid, without the flexibility of most soldiers. One on hand they tend not to have deformities that impact how well they stand up, on the other they're more easily broken. The fortress set my brother had also included some half-circle sandbag walls and a few vehicles, namely a Humvee, Abrams tank, Apache helicopter and I think one other that I can't recollect or might be misremembering.
