The first mainline Pokemon in true 3D, by far the biggest selection of Pokemon up to that point, one of the comfiest regions, the introduction of Mega Evolutions and the long awaited Character Customization, other things like the PSS and Super Training.
For the first installment of a generation and a new system, that came out only a year after B2/W2, Pokemon X/Y were fantastic for what they were. Their only major weaknesses were lacking post-game and a rushed story, which could've easily been fixed with a third version.
If we had gotten Pokemon Z that fixed X/Y's issues I could easily have called it my favorite Pokemon game. Instead, we got a half-assed remake of Gen 3 followed by probably the worst generation of Pokemon in Gen 7, all adding little to the series, and being three games in a row set in shitty margaritaville beach worlds.
