>>53571606>Wrong , it adds more baggage than removing any at all specially since it follows world journey setting. The standalone series you want would have worked if it taken place in a single region.???? I think you're completely misunderstanding what I mean by baggage. Ash having all these established adventures, established Pokemon, established friends, etc. meant a lot of the events and relationships he accumulates over the course of the series have less and less meaning each time. You know none of his adventures in any new series matter because they're new, and not as important as OG adventures (which the series agrees with as it constantly calls back to them), might not sound like a problem but despite what people like to claim, Pokemon has had fuckall continuity besides occasional nods since Advance, XY was not some weird outlier in this regard. It was for all intents and purposes, a brand new series every time, except with the knowledge that your protagonist already has these hundreds upon hundreds of adventures in the past and they wont grow at all in this new series when putting it all into perspective.
>Pretty much every long running anime exclusive show does that including precure and Yugioh.
Correct, and this is why long running anime exclusives shows tend to suck, a refresh (replacing every character for example, or having a brand new story structure / formula) is necessary for things to continue to be engaging.
It's like if the pokemon games was just one big game with every region instead of a bunch of seperate ones, at a certain point you're going to get burned out, you'll have already optimized and max leveled your team by the second region or so, and will then just go through the motions without caring about anything for the later ones, why bother catching new pokemon when you already have your optimized squad for example, unless the newer ones were more powerful (this is why long running games as service have really bad power creep over time)
