Now the question for this thread, continuing from the previous thread, what about your character(s), what do they think of other members of the guild? Also, in 5 days, it will mark as the Clover Guild's 1st Monthsary, do you... have anything for the occasion? It's fine if you don't I also have no idea how to celebrate it, heh...

The mindless pokemon are bound to the dungeons. There may be criminals outside the dungeons but those ones aren’t mindless

In super I kinda wished the main story took you all over the world but its mostly relegated to the water content.

All consumable items that give a strategic advantage. Basically you’re only allows you to use elixers, apples, gummies, and escape orbs.

I'd have a full chuuni getup with a cloak, long flowing scarf, eyepatch, fingerless gloves, and a wand strapped across my back I never use it just looks cool there

Not really. I've been working on a concept for Archie's place but all I've got are sketches. Also working out the details of how/when it gets built, because it would undobtedly take much time & effort. As of right now, consider it merely a concept. I have no construction experience so it's slow going, lol.

I thought it made no sense how the hero returns in RT just because they really, really wanted to. All the others had an explanation, even if they didn't always make sense, at least they tried.

Most wands, most exclusive items, etc. I just don't like taking a full bag into the dungeon because it limits my space for treasures.

Question for those who've played Super with custom starters; Do the scarves still appear on you or are you naked the whole time?

I am, I think it's less the quest's fault and more the fact that it's like the fourth pmd project i'm heavily investing myself into with a similar setting in a year or two but otherwise I think it's right
I'm considering stepping away after my quest's thread passes; it's already on page 8ish so it's getting there. I'll probably take a week or two's break and then return once i'm better refreshed

The whole bit with a team member having to stay behind in Gates felt forced because there should have been nothing stopping them from getting some shopkeeper to join the team and wait around. Not only that but you never actually see anything from HAPPI outside of a letter or two the second you make your team.

The true king of worthless is the Silence Orb. Outside of that all of the Flag items in Gates seemed pretty worthless, especially for how expensive they were.

There's no way i'd let myself be entirely naked, but something tells me it'd be really tough to find clothes tailored to a specific body type when Pokémon in general are so insanely diverse. Would probably just stick to a bag and a scarf until I can find someone who can tailor me a full suit or something (and that's assuming I'm not used to being half-naked by the time the suit's done lol).

Probably roam the wilderness around dungeons. I imagine dungeon loot wouldn't be the tastiest, nor the healthiest, so there's probably some kind of radius around dungeons where ferals would roam, and that'd help tip explorers off to whether they're near one or not.

The ending of BRT honestly makes no sense. Tossing out the entire game's villain in one go and then just telling you to fuck off to Sky Tower to tell a dragon to LOOK UP? It's a bit retarded and kind of handicaps an otherwise-engaging plot. Kind of wish the game ended a bit earlier, even if Sky Tower is great.

I seem to have a habit of ignoring most accessories. I usually have enough for both of my mon by the first or second dungeon, and I think I just don't bother switching them out after that. Either my mon have an aura bow and some other scarf or they've got a berry/gravelerock of some kind to keep themselves healthy.

Charm is nervous around those she doesn't know but tries not to assume the worst. She'd definitely try and strike up conversation if she felt comfy enough/was in the mood. I've already mentioned that she's kind of suspicious of Kaiji, but beyond that she'd probably be slightly intimidated by the guildmaster and a little friendlier towards the shier members like Macom and Gus.
Natu on the other hand would mainly stick to himself and Charm. Wouldn't be especially hostile towards anyone- hell, he might actually get along with some of the more mischievous members- but the only thing degenerate about him is his sense of humor and having telepathy in a guild full of 4chan users would probably be more of a curse on his end than a boon considering that.
If approached he'd definitely talk, though. Probably just shoot the shit without going much further than that.

Fuck, no way it's been that long. It feels like it's been a week or two maximum lol. Uh, I'm not sure I've got anything, but I know that if I do get something I'll post it. I have some ideas, at least...

I imagine Chespin would get along well enough with most, even if he thought they were pretty annoying. He'd definitely be a bit wary of Sneasel due to his past experiences with Ice types

In all seriousness, take your time, your stories already make up for the wait with their quality and length, but if might stop being the case if you start to compromise on that just for the sake of rushing them out. If your first story can survive even decanonization, then your next one can surely withstand being a few days late.

Shit I don't know, probably that they're a wild and wacky crew that all have their endearing qualities about them. Yes, even deviants like Coomer-Cyndaquil, I'm sure.

I can't even figure out how to fill out more stories kek, pic related. So I distract myself while still contributing to the thread by posting about my adventures playing the games themselves. Its fun to think of it as a sort of "what if" given these games are inherently isekais in and of themselves, to have Tooca go off on these different adventures instead. Regardless, its really nice that this particular version of /pmdg/ has stuck around as it is! Its incredible to actually have friendly anons on /vp/ of all places get together like this.

Considering I generally don't wear clothes when I'm home alone (hey I get hot, even in winter kek) I'd probably just go au naturel like the Pokemon, aside from the usual affectations as a pokemon like a scarf or something. I'd like to think that Tooca and Lapi would have matching Sliver and Gold color ones, respectively.

I think something like a Delphox would be mostly fur, but something like a Sawk? Yeah, that is absolutely external clothing.

Imo they roam the wilderness, but aren't all hyper-aggressive like dungeon pokemon. After all, gotta have a cycle of life in the world to maintain some sort of ecological balance.

Honestly the parts where it comes up with contrived reasons to separate the protag-mon from the partner-mon at the end. Yeah, I get it that its for a tear-jerker ending that's pretty effective, but lore-wise/in-universe it makes no damn sense, the issues with GTI's ending for example were brought up last thread, and how there was absolutely no reason for the Voice of Life to send the protag-mon back considering that, in hindsight with Super, the protag of RT and Explorers are still roaming around the world, RT one in particular likely also having come from the human world/our irl world originally, and are staying there just fine.

Gravelrocks and the like for one. They do so little damage, the only time I've really used them instead of some move or some other item was in Adventure Squad where they can be used to knock down enemy stacks.

You need some to make a gift or two which is important for 100%ing the game in terms of recruitment. I think Munna was one of the ones you need a flag for a gift (or two really since its damn near impossible to recruit the evo)
GTI is a funny game though, kek. Having the partner-mon as Axew (as well as seeing how cute they can be in camp interactions in Sword) has lead to a pokemon I generally had no interest in previously quickly becoming a fav.

I wonder if anyone else has found a pokemon they really enjoy that they didn't really think about before from playing the PMD games?

Tybo would probably wear a hood for my more mischievous activities, but likely wear nothing in a casual situation, maybe an armband would look nice i dunno

The partner. I’m sorry but the partner has the most basic personality ever. They act way too positive, their only personality trait is their desire to save the world. I just find the partner to be really annoying and it feels like they aren’t really a character and more so just there so you aren’r alone.

Funny thing about that imo is how it ends up being a character flaw in some of the games, even when it comes in as part of the plot later, like with GTI's partner-mon. Early on it results in them getting scammed and in a fight with Gurdurr, even if later it helps because they forgive Gurdurr right off the bat for no real reason.
I like to think that's just how some pokemon are, like how wigglytuff from that one special episode in Explorers goes on about how they think there are no bad pokemon, despite the evidence that there very clearly are in some cases kek. I don't think you really get irl people like that because of just how different the irl world is compared to something like the PMD pokemon world.

Don't worry, I miss the deadlines I set myself all of the time. I won't post something unless I'm happy with it. I'm around 4.6k words in so I'm reasonably confident I can finish it soonish. My word count estimates have been hilariously off for my first two stories, but the rest of my outline only feels like a few thousand more words.

I liked wooper well enough around early gen 6, but when i took it to go evolve into my then-favorite in rescue team, getting another good look at its sprites and how it walks around. its fate was sealed.

i think the fur will feel like im wearing clothes so im good. my head for example feels warm cause of my long hair. if my whole body was like my head then wearing clothes would be super warm. i would wear small things like bows though.

I hated that after you beat up the grand master of all things bad and save the world multiple times everyone still thinks you are weaker than wigglytuff

The fugitive arc in rescue team. Happens way too fast in my opinion.

I think the regular status healing berries. Easier to stock up on heal seeds and carry 1 or 2 with you.

I think Lliam will get along with everyone just fine, quite tolerable by the amount of bullshit they might throw at him, but there's a breakpoint somewhere. He will trust anyone even if they're suspicious, not totally because he can cheat with psychic or anything.

Well, if I go by Meowstic, I would just go with a capelet with a badge, idk I just like it. Though, I really liked that outfit I put on Lliam before coming to Capim Town but then I realized that might be too much/complex design wise, but whatever.

It wasn't to hide the ship, but to fuck up the enemy's aim over long distances. When you're trying to go for a moving ship that you can barely see on the horizon, all the crazy changing black-and-white stripes fucked up the percieved outline of the ship and made it hard to effectively tell exactly which way it's going and how fast (or even the size/distance of the ship), so the idea was it'd make the enemies incorrectly judge the ship's future position and fuck up their attacks as a result.
It didn't see use for very long because it only had limited adoption to begin with and new technologies made it obsolete, data on its effectiveness was spotty but seemed to find that it helped a little bit with getting hit less but also made the ships more visible to begin with, it's really more an interesting historical footnote than anything else

The ideas aren't the issue. Its getting constantly distracted, procrastinating and never seeming to find the right mood to fully finish things out. The one story I have done was nice, but I had written that all in one go because I was in the right frame of mind for creative writing at the time. Between real-life keeping me busy and not being experienced with creative endeavors in general its tough going on top of being awkward and introverted in general. idk, I just seem to get hung up on something or the other with no real reason to before forgetting about the creative stuff, coming back in a day or two and remember it and doing...one or two more things before putting it aside and forgetting about it again.I've artfagged before too but its been 3 years since I last drew anything kek. Too much to do all over the place ig.
But yeah, its really nice this general has been so well-behaved. The most we seem to get is the odd coom-brain post or shitpost and even those guys don't go overboard.

I do find that to be the case generally too, where you put your heart and soul into creating something and it leads to you liking <thing> a good deal more. Strange, but that's just how it be I guess.
I've certainly come to like Snivy a lot more as well, another favorite mon now thanks to PMD and writing kek.

Are there any dungeons in Sky that need a bit more of a sell to them? Something that makes them more worth going to? I sprinkled in a bunch of gravelerocks into one dungeon to give a good place to stock up for L1 dungeons, but I feel like I could do something a bit similar for others. If I were a skiddo, I would wear something like a horse blanket at first out of embarrassment, but after a while of getting tired of fucking with it with only hoves and vinewhip, and the leaves on my body starting to wilt from lack of sunlight, I'd eventually give up and go without.

I tend to view Dungeon monsters as an abstraction of territorial pokemon being territorial pokemon. I absolutely abhor it when shows (usually anime/manga) have medieval fantasy with gamey things like stat menus be acknowledged and regularly interacted with by the main cast, so anything that sidesteps that is a must in my book

Naturally naked if fur basically is like hair in terms of warmth. About the fake clothes, who knows? I think of it as fur.

There's a few parts.
In super, when you're treated as a child and the game does nothing about it except one 'lol teehee' line that's never brought up again.
The bits in gates where they tried shoving in drama inorganically that clashes with what they were really trying to say. So the entire Great Glacier sequence with the HAPPI stuff, and the part in the ending where everyone's supposed to forget your existence after you saved their asses. Because this totally futureproofs the world from future disaster of the same kind.

I tend to ignore scarves with singular effects. Ammo in my earlier years I avoided. Link Boxes as well, it's very rare I feel the urge to link moves if at all.

I mentioned that too when I first started playing Super several threads ago, in the start of the game when Nuzleaf first calls you a kid or something to that effect and the dialogue from the protag-mon implies that's not the case, pic related from someone's Let's play since I'm not gonna start a new game just to grab that image

the non-square rooms aren't a bad idea, but they're far too small. If my team can barely fit into a room and there's a monster house that has 3 pokemon because no more can fit, there's a problem.
The opportunities for using hallway corners as cover isn't a terrible one, but when you're dashing, the enemy will always get the drop on you no matter what. You don't stop before coming into contact with them.
Even inching along doesn't help because of how zoomed in the screen is.

I'd feel so awkward walking around naked. Aside from the obligatory bandanna/scarf, I'd wear a cloak so I can feel more covered-up. Besides, cloaks are just cool.
And as for Pokemon that seem to have natural clothes: it varies. I think Sawk/Throh make clothes, but something like Delphox just has a lot of thick fur.

2.2 changes:
-Changed the portrait that appears when you hit R in town in the endgame and during the "end of day" cutscene that plays after graduation. The partner deserves a little more happiness, after all.

-Seed colors are now here! While there aren't enough colors to use to give everything a unique look, you should be able to tell stuff apart a bit better. Listed below are the new colors.
Heal Seed: White
Eyedrop Seed: Light Blue
Reviver/Reviser/Vanish Seed: White
Blinker/Vile/Via/Dough/Doom Seed (not that the latter appears now): Dark Blue
X-eye Seed: Purple
Life/Joy Seed: Pink
Hunger/Stun Seed: Brown
Quick Seed: Orange
Totter/Sleep/Slip Seed: Green
Plain Seed: Unchanged
Warp Seed: Sky Blue
Blast/Violent Seed: Red
Pure Seed: Blue like a Wonder Orb

-Run out of Gravelerocks from playing Orion Tower? Landslide Cave has you covered. Gravelerocks have been added to the item pool, with 12F having a ton of them laying around. There will be enough to get roughly a stack and a half of them. Quickly restock for another climb! No other items spawn on 12F, but all that was there otherwise was ultra-basic items.
-Kecleon Shops on 10-40-70F of Orion Tower now merely have a "good" chance of a Reviver Seed spawning.
-Added a Reviver Seed chance on 77F of Orion Tower, after all it's a lucky floor
-Added a guaranteed Key spawn to 98F of Orion Tower.
-Added "imperfect rooms" to 80-89F of Orion Tower, just like 90F onwards has.

-Made Ribombee spawn more in Orion Tower

On an art-related note, I tried drawing my character from RTDX.
Torchic wears its bandanna as a bowtie in the game, which is cute, but I prefer the headband style it had in official art for the original games (like the cover for Red Rescue Team), so I went with that style here.

The problem with a background is that it limits how we can draw. We'd have to position our characters in ways that make sense, and we'd have to make sure it's all to scale. With a blank background, we can just draw wherever and however we want.
But I do like the idea of having a background, even though it would be more challenging to handle.
I like the other anon's idea of a mess hall, where we could all be at a table or something.

A pretty decent story, if a bit predictable. Admittedly I’m not one to laugh at stereotypes like these after one or two reads of them, and the characters surrounding Honchkrow acting about as fed-up as one would expect didn’t help that on my end lol. I can acknowledge that it’s not for me, though it’s pretty competently written and I like how most of the story is broken up. I think I would’ve preferred Honchkrow being out of a fight and in some kind of busy establishment- seeing varying reactions to and conversations with others from his perspective especially could help add to the concept assuming you were trying to get me specifically interested; the story seems to work as-is for a lot of other people, I’m not suggesting you change it.
Also, the story flows very nicely in terms of formatting, with the paragraphs mostly containing fighting info while dialogue remains in singular sentences. Overall, definitely a pretty good read- but better if you’re going in blind. Also not for people like me who can’t laugh at living stereotypes for long lol.
10/10 for making me want to punch the guy though, and that ending is cathartic as hell. Can’t stand these assholes irl. You nailed the exaggeration of the stereotype.

I misspelled the title of this review as “The Wah of a Finger” on initial writing and now I can’t stop thinking of Waluigi Munchlax.

Anyways, the narration here is great. I like how it’s mostly impartial with just a dash of comedy- it really helps balance out Beast’s Gordon Ramsay-like qualities well haha. Insurance agencies in the PMD world would also be fucking rich, so it’s funny that they’re here. The worldbuilding-obsessed part of my brain may be screeching “REEE POST-INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS IN A PRE-INDUSTRIAL WORLD” but the better part of my brain is instead appreciating such luxuries as this scenario
Beast being told off for summoning the wrath of god and arguing with an insurance agent over its legality and validity as a heavenly act, fucking incredible lol
Will always appreciate descriptions of the guild building itself, too.
Why does a Raichu-Froslass pair sound so familiar..?

If I had to offer critique, maybe tone down the use of adverbs
It’s not a major thing, just something I know is a common thing with a lot of writers myself included
Anything that ends in -ly can usually be described better with other words, and seeing that suffix repeated so often can stifle imagination or tire the reader out a little, so it’s better to try and minimize adverbs when possible. At least from what I know. It’s not really a critique, more of a tip. I really enjoyed this one haha. Looking forward to reading the other two.

Impossible. 3D art isn't what makes a game hard to make

But if you want to make a text adventure, with different choices and maybe a basic inventory system, then it would be feasible.

The strength of these games comes from their multiple, complex, interlocking systems, which have oftentimes been built up over many years worth of work.

That's not to discourage you - but you should know what you're getting into! There are tutorials online about programming that you can look at, and tutorials as well for making roguelike games. But it's a very heavy time investment, so I'd suggest starting with something simpler and adding on to that if you feel sufficiently interested.

I do have a pretty cool cave generator if you decide to use python.

Significantly easier, if just for the fact that all of the base systems are in place.

From a quick look, it looks like you need to know both programming and compiling C to be able to mod NetHack. (C is an annoying language to program in - probably hard for a beginner - but it has great efficiency.) The upside of that is that it gives you a very large amount of freedom to make it how you want.

DF would probably be a lot easier to mod - no actual coding required, just changing/adding config files which are well documented on the wiki. But you can't really access/change the base systems, I think?

Don't get me wrong, it's still a /lot/ of work. Just not a practically impossible amount.

It would make a great excuse to bring the protag-mon back after the usual tear-jerker ending.
Would make for a neat little sidequest/story sort of thing too in terms of it being in the game, given Enamorus exists. Pic related on both points.

Also, on this point. Given you find your partner, at least in the original rescue team (still have yet to finish DX) in one of the pokemon friend areas after the ending of the game...I think, for whatever reason, that WAS their house. And they just sort of...gave it to you? Because reasons?
Idk if its ever addressed, but finding the partner-mon just roaming around a friend area without any visible housing (where do all your other friends stay in those areas too btw?) it begs some serious questions about your partner's selfless nature...to a flaw, kek.
Or maybe they just live in a cave or whatever nearby the friend area, who knows.

I like how Enamorus canonically goes extinct. That boss fight with it in PLA was terrible. It got to the point where I just kept kamikazeing it with Bravery hoping for the best.
There are very few Pokémon that I actively despise and Enamorus is one of them.

Explains a lot when it comes to things going bad later, really.
As for the boss fight, all of them were annoying in general really. But! I have all of them for my living dex in Home, so that is nice.
Also I only have 3 pokemon left in PLA to complete dex entries for before I'm fully done with the game. I found out that in Home, for whatever reason you do not get the PLA dex entry for the pokemon in Home unless you have filled it to level 10, or "complete" in-game in PLA.
Its taken ages but I'm down to Bonsly, Phione, and Manaphy only left to do in PLA.
I get what they were going for, but the whole "do x amount of moves or whatever, do x amount of agile/strong type moves" was super annoying given how streamlined just catching the pokemon was otherwise.

I think the partner says they have their own separate house, which seems to be to the west of the hero's house judging by the direction they always go. I guess they just had a second house lying around...?
I'm accepting that one video as canon, since it's a decent enough explanation. They accidentally got a house built wrong, so they gave it away and then had a new one built.

That still suggests they were at least briefly homeless, not to mention how they mentioned not having much money to begin with (and apparently being young as well? Guess Super isn't that much of a break from the formula after all). Lol, reminds me of how one anon or the other mentioned something a couple threads ago about the partner mon thinking they were rich from getting just like 2000 poke from a job (from early explorers iirc) when friend areas in RT regularly cost several times that. No wonder they're so amazed with the protag-mon when you're able to manage and afford so much land in RT. Regardless, I think in the end at least they got something figured out. I don't think all those pokemon living on those camps/friend areas would really stick around if they were homeless all the time just in the area, so I'm sure they eventually got something built for themselves.

yeah I picked the two I suspected people might like the most. The problem with these is that some of them have very heavy "foreground filters" which makes it very hard to draw in and it will make it look like the characters don't belong in the picture, because we can't draw behind it. But they look so good tho

One is a winter related outfit with russia origin in mind. Another one is a more of a summer wear but idk much about it. The last one is probably not canon and might just give it to his female counterpart, which has her own set of wardrobes.
