Yeah, I don't think it was an accident. I feel it's one of those shipping bones that the anime likes to toss in, where it has meaning to the shippers the bone is being tossed to. They knew Pokeshippers would enjoy it, but because it's two OCs and not the Ash/Misty characters themselves, the writers are basically leaving it up to interpretation.

I find it iiiiiiiinteresting that both Pokeshippers and Amourshippers landed on the same conclusion about Milfty on twitter and serrebii.
They both seem to think it being Misty = Misty marries Ash.
I say this because most people, meaning most non shippers, either didn't make note of it or can tell it's improbable that anyone could accidentally draw that. However there's a number of amourshippers insisting that it is an accident.
I'll assume for the sake of conversation that Pokeshippers might do the same thing in the reverse circumstance, and that amourshippers would not reach this conclusion if they did not reach the prior conclusion (Adult Misty=Misty endgame)
It's interesting what shipping does to basic pattern recognition I'm pretty sure a monkey or a parrot would recognize this as simply Misty

If you compare all pokemon ships using their fandom names, Amourshipping rides on top
However, if you compare them using simpler titles such as "Ash and Misty" for each pairing. Pokeshipping suddenly towers over everything else by an untouchable degree.
If we assume google searches equate to total interest, then there were twice as many pokeshippers in 2007 than there were amourshippers in its highest peak. And for some reason most pokeshippers at any point in history still insist on just using the characters names

There is nothing wrong with Pokeshipping but you have to understand that Pokeshipping is a ship, unlike Amour it doesn't have onscreen confirmation. It has hints, it has jokes, it has meta nods galore. I'm not stupid, I won't deny what I saw in MPM2. But that's all there is

They still exist, they grew up and are now teachers, doctors, nurses. Maybe they forgot their time, maybe you know them right now. Perhaps they haven't thought of pokemon for years. Maybe they played Go when it first came out.
But they're there. Ash kissing Misty could trigger ran unknown biological response in countless 25-40 year old women across the planet and I'm not sure we are ready for the consequences
