>>54012662It might be a theory, but it's still an explanation for why the pokemon world is the way it is. Almost every game starts with you either moving in to town, your dad being "gone" for one reason or another, or both, so why is that the case? In Kanto and Johto sure there might have been a war some years back. Maybe. All you know is your dad isn't there. In Hoenn your dad is Norman. But what about Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Galar, and Paldea? In Alola your dad chooses to remain in Kanto for some unspecified reason, but in the others your dad is basically dead. There's enough games where they mention the player having a living dad that the choice for him to be absent becomes conspicuous. Why is that? Does Japan have a literary tradition of fatherless heroes, or was this a recent development post-WWII? Where's the harm in trying to figure out where all the Dads have gone?
