It's been at least half a decade since I read any fan-fiction, and I fucking forgot.
There's a part of your brain that just, fucking LOVES that schlocky psuedo-harem shit, you know? The stuff where the obvious self-insert MC and the girls they interact with do the whole "not-quite-flirting" thing that leads to embarrassment but a slow sense of growth in a relationship, or a girl being overly cheery and extroverted that the MC usually only gets annoyed at, but gets super shy if there's any small reciprocation, all that shit? It fucking scratches an itch that I forgot existed.
And now I'm stuck reading to reabsorb enough of that old, high-school energy to start making a version that I'd consider decent writing to fulfill that vision in my head's camera
