>>22352003Red's biggest flaw is on the chorus. When she goes for the big 'TIME' and 'FLY', she's trying her hardest to project but it really comes off as kind of a flat screaming instead of being a powerful note. As she then moves into the rest of the chorus, she doesn't slide between notes on each of the words but instead attacks them individually which comes across as super choppy, most likely because she's not a practiced and comfortable singer. She also sounds unpleasantly hoarse on the chorus, likely again because she's trying to project power but doesn't know how to do so and is just screaming into the mic. Ironically, the last bit at the end where she sings much more gently with the 'Fade Away' is far more pleasant, which just shows the wasted potential of the song.
The verses have a couple of points where her flow is strange. She tries to stuff more syllables into them then fits on occasion, like 'And the planet's a ditch' line or the end of the 'Continue slashing forward, I must', for example, and conversely she stretches some syllables out way too long to fill space, like the mysterious in 'So mysterious, and yet, I exist'.
The breakdown is probably the best part of the song, but the addition of the backing vocals and super aggressive drums means that her voice can pretty easily get lost, and even then she again tries to cram too much in with the 'and it's all because' part which throws the flow off.
Overall, it's one of the better songs she's made since she moved away from being a rapper and trying to integrate more singing, but she's not nearly as good a singer as she is a rapper, and even as a rapper, her ability to write lyrics isn't flawless given how badly she can kill the flow at points. Fixing the rap parts would require her to make some substitutions in word choice, but her delivery was largely fine even if she did pronounce some words wrong. The singing, however, would require almost the entire song to be changed up so that she doesn't have to try and scream into the mic and instead can use the gentle voice that she has a mild amount of competence in controlling instead. She also should not let AO bury her voice in the instrumentals to the point that he did. It's a Mori Calliope album, people are buying it to listen to her, not Teniwoha's tracks featuring Mori Calliope.
