I think it was that skylark man people keep rratposting about when it comes to Gura, I can use that as an example. I remember vividly hearing about his fanbase being strange, and when I went to look at their art tag there was a (reoccuring!) controversy about how fans were making copious amount of gurosmut of this real life man, guts spilling out of his body while still attached to his inner workings, blood gushing from his stomach and mixing with semen from his post-nut flaccid penis, while the dying man keeps repeating his best friend's name.
This was considered only slightly odd by the fan community, who was more than willing to post said art directly to the guy under many of their posts every day.
If I were to compare those schizos to our closest equivalent, crazy fanart of ships like what you see in Gurame or Iname, the worst you tend to get is biting, hypnosis and murder stories that aren't meant to be sexual, most of which is of the characters in fanfiction settings, as opposed to the actual people. That is the level of difference, and that is before I get into the ACTUAL ANTIS OF THEM, WHO ARE FAR, FAR WORSE FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND.
On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the least schizophrenic fanbase and 10 being the most, Hololive is probably only a 6 at worst. Even the fucking tumblrfags of 2016-2019 were far worse than us for shit like Voltron, where they did shit like spiking cookies with fucking razor blades because an artist drew a ship they didn't like and trying to KILL THEM, or a fan traveling to Korea and stealing in-production cels of the season finale and threatening to release them publicly if the creators didn't make their fanfiction canon. The worst people in Hololive have done is write some angry letters and post narratives to an audience of maybe, being generous, 1,000 people pathetic enough to listen?
