>>9138396I agree about discussion being enhanced with a full picture of emotion, but the reason they're hated is that their system of discussion encourages "proper behavior" for points, and that they have a culture of "the more points you get, the more true the word is,' whereas here you at least have to try to be taken seriously. Being positive can be perfectly fine. Being negative can be perfectly fine. It all depends on the effort and sincerity of the discussion. It's just that most negative posts for months have been incredibly low effort, and so no one engages with them. And at the end of the day, I'd rather enjoy the hobby than fight it out all day. Because that's what it's all about here, at the core. Discussing things we enjoy, not tearing into it like a blood sport.
Sure, hope and despair are both important. You need both to get a full picture of the world. But if you don't let hope be your guide at the end of it, tinged with the understanding of despair, you'll head down a path you can't come back from without great pain. That's my perspective at least. Sorry I couldn't type this all out in time last time.
